Not the most scientific source but Mythbusters did an episode on this and found there to be a slight increase in growth in plants who "listened" to metal music during their growth.

It couldn't possibly cost you too much to play music for your plants so try it out, nothing to lose right?

I think it was somthing to do with the vibrations caused from the music, metal probably the most vibrations.

There has actually been a lot of studies on this and there is an old thread in the advanced section discussing it. There is even a Dispensary grow here in CO that does it (was on the news)

From what I have read over the years plants respond best to classical music

An experiment I have yet to do is to hit em with an 8Hz signal since that is the freq of the earth 8)

My plants are forced to listen to the birds and the bees all day. Then the crickets, frogs and coyotes at night. But if I had any around the house, they would be hearing lots of Dead and Company shows these days. I'm pleased at how well John Mayer {that pop icon} has blended in with the fellows. Here is a good one to try on your plants. I think they will really like the Peggy-O, Little Red Rooster, Bird Song sequence in the first set. {I know I do}

There is lots of ag land around where I grow. The tractors make a deep growling sound for hours at a time. Or at least they have been for the last couple of weeks. Once the crops go in, it will be quieter.

funny u say about crickets read of a guy that said they adore this sound as it makes the plants think its gonna rain apparently used to play it to them all the time so without realising ur probs doing something awesome for them not sure how they will feel with the tractor but if its causing vibrations they may like it still

this makes me think it even more dont think theres gonna be much negativity in this room i read some research about a guy running tests dunno what machine he used but was saying he got reactions off a plant by thinking threatening thoughts about burning the plant and it causing it to react by holding an unlit match out towards it and giving serious thought to lighting it

Surprisingly, tests like that go back to the late 60's early 70's and all have come to the same conclusion.....

every time I see my plants I think about how nice it will be to wrap them in paper and burn the bitches to ashes...I even show them the grinder that will mulch them and the BIC lighter that will ignite their ass......yet they don't seem to get upset and remain happy knowing that they will soon be cremated
