Amazed at the direction this thread seems heading towards................
I never realized that about Nirvana at the time. Wasn't comfortable being all over the net researching, so gave it ago and paid for it. I do all my own cloning, just looking for something special. Pheno fishing at present. Any suggestions are welcomed.Nirvana seeds are for beginners, they are knockoff's at reasonable prices. You have to pheno fish for the right one, expecting greatness from every single bean is just not reasonable.
Anyways, an experienced grower would use clones. Or at least know somebody that has some nice cuts.
I first tried Nirvana 15 years ago. I had to switch from the canadian seedbank I was using. I picked Aurora Indica, It was decent for back in the day, they seemed ok.. But it was really hit or miss with the genetics.I never realized that about Nirvana at the time. Wasn't comfortable being all over the net researching, so gave it ago and paid for it. Have used Dinafem and Dna genetics, (both were good.) Sensei Seed Bank, Barney's Farm, Dutch passion and a few others, Still not getting what i'm looking for though. Have connections in Laos, Thailand and Cambodia, perhaps some countryside walking may do the trick.I first tried Nirvana 15 years ago. I had to switch from the canadian seedbank I was using. I thought it was pretty obvious.. Serious seeds was doing AK47, then Nirvana comes up with AK48. I mean come on really?.. KC Brains Mango, was changed to Nirvana Papaya.. Knockoffs, plain and simple.
If i wanted a specific cultivar like say Chemdog, I would go with a company like Dynafem. The fem'ed seed is a self polinated female, so the genetic variation wont be that much. So you dont have to look, like with regular seeds. I'm not sure how Nirvana does it, but I'm sure the just buy a standard pack from the breeder, then finds a P1 and P2 from that pack/s/ and sells the knockoffs F1's. or they may go another round and F2.. Who knows?.
Something like that..
What exactly is it your looking for?Have used Dinafem and Dna genetics, (both were good.) High yields, large buds with a structure where the bottom nodes connect up the laterals, can be pruned for SOG or left alone for normal growth, structure like a small pine tree, with average to high thc, prefer easy manicuring, 7 to 10 weeks flowering. Something thats relatively easy to grow, and doesn't need baby sitting all the time. Actually been getting ok yields from Barney's farm Liberty Haze. 3 X 600 hps 3x 400 hps in one room result was 7.2 lb. Plus doesn't attract botrytis that much. But looking for something with more kick. Also have the Barney's farm Critical Kush, its not bad, but watch it for mold. Can be a bit leafy also. Pineapple Express is really nice smoke, almost like taking an E, great high, but the yields were about 5oz average per plant @ 4-5ft. Original AK47 was ok, but hates the heat, the buds can turn into small pod like bud if the heat is too much. The one you suggested maybe worth a look. Havn't discounted it.What exactly is it your looking for?
I dont know how good your connect is but when I deal with countries like say Mexico, they tend not to isolate cultivars.. you're more likely to get a wild variety based on locale like oxcan red.. or in your case Thai Dalat I literally have a mayonaise jar full of seeds waiting for me, but they are unlabeled, so I have a huge task to sort the traits. Dealing with that is a headache, its a step backwards but out of curiosity, I cant wait to try some of the wilder varieties, but I'm not to thrilled to find out how unstable the seeds are.Have used Dinafem and Dna genetics, (both were good.) You are easily tricked by marketing, none of those are exceptional cultivars, you're behind the curve. What you need to do is cross a AK47 with C99. Either way, there is much better smoke out there. I'll put Loctite or GG4 or PGSC against those any day.. or the Black Lime Reserve cross we are working on.Pineapple Express is really nice smoke, almost like taking an E, great high, but the yields were about 5oz average per plant @ 4-5ft.
