What to do next and where to get seeds?

Okay. So I think I'm okay with lighting until it gets to the flowering part. My only issue now is do I need to do anything to maintain it for this stage other than doing the 18/6 light thing and watering?

make sure u dont overwater get used to how heavy ur pot is unwatered and let ur plant tell u its wanting water dont go in abbundance every day with water small amounts 2 to 3 days maybe when the pot feels light water again u will see when shes ready and paint that box lol nice flat white inside and maybe start looking into ph correct values ect and the results if u dont oh and ur the first person i dare offered proper advice to as im new myself didnt want the regulars to come down hard looks like my risk paid off lol

I appreciatethe advice and help. The regulars are the ones that have been telling me to spend hundreds of dollars on a setup for a single plant so I like getting info from the newer growers. Looks like it's off to a good start so I'll paint the cabinet flat white in a few days when I get the time to do it and get some higher lumen cfls for when it's flowering time. i started with 4 cheap seeds under a 150 watt cfl i then upped my game coz i always want more im greedy like that i went to 600hps setup in tent heres what ive got in 21 days must be doing something right but thats coz i researched till im blue in the face and still want more always hungry to learn as much as i can

I keep forgetting how big they can get. Even those look huge since this is the first plant I've ever grown and mine is just a tiny sprout right now. I know its different for different setups and different plants but how long did it take your to go from sprouts to that big? And would it be similar time for mine to get that size?

They say to use the 2700k for veg and the 6500k for flower.
But I use a mix of both.

You have the color temps backwards there, bro. 6500 for veg and 2700 for flower (think blue for vegging and red for flowering).

To the op - There are some decently priced LED household lightbulbs you can buy either online or in store at sam's club or home depot. Home depot has some 100w equivalent (14.5w Philips) and Sam's Club has some 100w equivalent (16w GE Bright Stik). They are going to cost a little more than CFL's.

The reason I am suggesting LED's over CFL's is because they are directional. This means that they shine in the direction they are pointing instead of cfls which radiate light off in every direction. This means that cfl's are not giving you the full amount of lumens because a lot of them are lost heading in directions not even towards your plant. Reflectors help, A LOT, but then you are spending that much when you could go with LED's. The little plastic globes on LEDs come off easily with a flat-head screwdriver because they are only glued on.

This is going to sound really stupid but I have a small led desk light. Would it be worth it to take the plastic cover off of it and put it in the cabinet? I'll look into the led lights next time I go to Lowes or home Depot but in the mean time would the lamp thing work at all?

@Mccready203 take note of the people commenting on this post. Many of the people here at RIU are willing to help out because they have all been there at some time or another. For now, I would agree to just stick with the one plant, and work with that. I for one, as a first time grower, probably have more money then need be tied up in my grows. However, you posted in your other thread that you were testing this seed before considering further grows in the future. That is the only real difference between the two of us, and is somewhat how I justify the money I have invested. My grow journal is title "Test Grow aka First Grow" for a reason, however I have a couple hundred into seeds alone and am running into more issues then I would have expected going into this. Between seeds, lights, filters, fans, etc I probably have somewhere between $750-$1000 invested, and reality is I could have probably bought more then what I'm honestly expecting to yield for that price, however I see it as an investment because no matter how much research you do, nothing is as beneficial as jumping in and actually doing it!

As stated previously in this thread, its great that you are gaining a lot of knowledge, but knowledge is only goo when put into action. I have found the more willing you are to research on your own, the more likely you are to get quality help from members on here. I mean, if you spent time trying to explain something and the next day that same person was asking the same question again, eventually you would get frustrated and just stop helping. My best advice is keep researching and trying to find the answers your looking for on your own, and once you have something to go off of you can ask for verification of that info. Keep it simple, and best of luck with your first grow!
