Take the acrylic off From in front of the cob. It's not he vero it's you man. Sorry... Raise the fricking light to 30+ inches above the canopy and have lots of air movement across the topof said canopy. Trust me... I know what the fuck I'm doing.

That 100w of vero is killing your plant by intensity. Start them way high and move them down as the plant adapt. If you are not using quality organics then you will need to gradually add Cal mag as the leaves begin to show the deficiency. If in coco... A whole lot more...lol

Veros and cobs are only a tool. You have to learn to use them right for it to be effective.

I would have a long time ago but sadly I have height restrictions, I definitely need to learn to use them. I wonder if I grew them under the light from seeds if that would make a difference. I do see that the plants are adapting though and making progress. Also how close are the lights from the canopy in that image? Like a foot? Thanks

I had vero 29's until I switched a few months ago to 3590's. No issues. I use promix and feed Peters at 1.3 EC. 5 ml of calmag per gal each watering. Peters has some Cal etc. But I need the extra or my leaves get depleted. I do have dimming so I start with 150w vero 29's 5k and veg until they fill the cup then transplant to 5 gal buckets. I run at 400 w at 2 ft until they kick in. I have to feed each watering. That's every other day now. Around 1.5 gal per bucket. Running ~700w now. They are growing like weeds.

It's deceptive. In places it less than a foot but other 18" or so. There is still room to raise them. But those are mature flowering plants. I veg in a 4*4 with 80w of vero10 led and 80w of Philips led. All COB. In veg the lights are 2+ feet away. I also work up to full lighting in the flower tent over a period of two weeks before flipping. Gradual increases in intensity are far better than instant. Going from CFL to cob is a huge difference in the amount of photon they are receiving w no time to adapt.

I'm using four Vero 18's running pretty hot (somewhere around 55watts each?), and I start them pretty high off the plants depending on whether they are seeds or clones. With clones, I'll start them at 4 ft for the first couple of days, and inch them down. Mine came with lenses but I only use those during flower, and only if I have a solid 18+ inches over the plants. 99% of the problems I've had with COBs were lessened or cured by raising them. As SomeGuy said, the plants do get used to them and you can *gradually* bring them closer. That room is approximately 2x2.5 btw.

I am seeing signs of light stress on my plant as soon as I put her under my my grow light at about 2 ft away from canopy. I tried using 200W of led but that caused burning necrosis, fading and curling then I disabled two drivers and ran the light at 100W. She has recovered alot since then (about two weeks) but I don't see any fast growth Its been growing really slow but it hasn't been having burns just signs of stress like slight fading in the leaves and a little droopiness. I am wondering if the 3500k Vero 18 cobs have too much UV light causing this or if this plant is just weak and sensitive to the light. BTW I had used CFLs during the seedling/early veg stage. Had any of you had any experiences with problems caused by the high Intensity cob lights and if so how did you fix it? Thanks and any feedback would be appreciated.

I was using 220w in 1.5'x3'x5' and it was too intense. Bleaching was a problem and yield was under 1 g/w. I put a dimmer on it and dimmed to 70% and it was an improvement. When I first put the plants in the tops are about 3' from the light and I just let them grow up to it, or about 18" from it. From experience I can say that 50w sq ft is too much with COBs. Now it's about 35. I really wouldn't go higher than 40.

Here is 5 plants in soil in around 11 sq ft under 16 3590's at ~ 700w at 5 weeks. Flipped them 2 days ago. They eat a lot.

not much mention of optics here, i have 70 degree reflectors (probly not the best choice) i had all the same problems. all the hps growers seem to blame the soil or nutrients makes sense with hps plants usually cook before they get to many photons but not leds , i tried everything nothing worked until i put the plants outside not very sunny and yet they exploded with the most beautiful lush growth i had ever seen obviously the main factor here isnt the soil as a newb growing in recycled soil i learned that its best to just ignore deficiency symptoms atleast until ive played around with the lights and environment. now i have my lights permanently at the ceiling, seems to do the trick with reflective walls and 70 degree optics 2 feet or 4 feet doesnt really matter the sweet spot is pretty big

Any time you change from a weak light source to an intense one, you need to hard them off to it over a week or more. I would not be surprised if the cobs at 200W were 5 times the light intensity at the canopy, than the CFL's. I would do it by putting them under the cobs for 30 minutes in the "middle" of their day on the first day, then increase it by thirty minutes each day.

When I read this comment, a little Lightbulb went off above my head, like oh duh!!!! Hahaha. Took off the lenses, no more light stress!

I’ve grown under these Vero 18’s before, but the plants must’ve tolerated more light than this LSD strain can handle, because my auto gigabud is sitting next to it in the same tent, same light and has no problems at all....
