Should i trim fan leaves soon on my fruit spirit? Pics inside :)

Hey guys,

I'm 5 weeks into flower now with my first ever grow and was just looking for some advice on trimming fan leaves. I have only been taking off dead leaves so far, but wondered if i should remove some large leaves to allow light in? Also what is your take on my grow is it looking as it should at this stage?

I would trim a bit to let light get to more of the bud to grow bigger

Buds don't photosynthesize and therefore don't need light. A few of your top leaves could be near tge point of light saturation. Removing or just moving them so lower LEAVES can get more light is what you want. Light has actually been proven to degrade THC so you want your buds to be hidden in the shade if possible. I try to cover some lover buds with upper leaves. LST is also great for light distribution.
Your plants look pretty good for week 5. What lights and what size tent? Looks like a blurple from the pics...

your gonna get mixed results on this one man, never fails, some will say chop em, some will say don't ever touch them. its an ongoing back and forth battle. Me, myself, I tend to fall somewhere in the middle. I trim leaves every grow, but not extensively. I always lollipop the under brush. As for the top, i find that tucking works well. I tend to try to go with tucking first, cut second. i do my trimming in stages also, so I dont piss off my plant.

I'd keep doing what you're doing dude, those ladies are looking really good. Maybe some tucking/light trimming, but nothing crazy, @GreenThumbsMcgee gave solid advice pretty much what I would do if it were me

I'd say remove any leaves that are covering budsites underneath ^^

Or you can just cut the leaves halfway, your choice.

I'd be more concerned with gettin the leaves to stop droopin

before ya cut a leaf perhaps check this side by side I'm running One with no leaves removed and one with fans removed, it kinda speaks for itself after just the first week

If you need more light lower add another light down low don't chop off her leafs. Those leafs are your money makers like huge solar panels and at very least they are a huge reservoir of instant sugars, nutrients and water so if the plant gets in trouble she can cannibalize herself. If you disagree with my statements it's because somethings wrong with your thc uptake maybe your pH is off.

People should know defoliation DOES work wonders, if done correctly and under the right circumstances.

People who say it doesn't are ignorant, and have no knowledge on the subject.

I am just going to go with tucking first and see how it goes then. Thanks for the replies gentlemen, much appreciated. RM3 the leaves are drooping because she's due a watering bro, when i give her 5 litres of water she perks up and the leaves raise. I always let her droop and get thirsty and then give her whats she needs.

Its a 60x60 tent, just a small stealth one . Strain is fruit spirit. The lights are 2 x 300W LED's . P.S she smells stinky as fuck!

60x60 is 25 square feet. 600÷25=24 so you're theoretically pushing 24 watts per square foot. But, the blurple lights are actually using, at most, 180 watts each and normally closer to 135. So 360÷25=14.4 watts per square foot at best and a little over 10 at worst.
Personally, I run around 40-50 watts of COB LED per square foot.
Your girls are looking great though. Really good grow for a blurple light.
Are you sure it's 60x60? That one pic shows a plant filling the width of the tent. That's a huge girl for a 300 watt China light.

Yeah sorry i'm using CM so its 60cmx60cm so 4 sq. feet of tent. I have two lights at 300w each, well like you say each light is actually 140W so with having 2 running side by side i have a total of 280W ÷ 4 Sq. FT = 70W per SQ/FT.

So this is the result with 70W per square foot. I can't fault the old china lights there great at keeping temps low compared to CFL and i seem to be getting a good grow out of them. I actually have another 2 spare lights I'm thinking of hanging it side on and dropping it down back of tent and rotating the next girl every day to get maximum light in to the full plant! They don't burn the plant either i have had them 10inch away from the tops for days and no burn. And each light costs about 2-3p per hour to run. So could run 4 lights for 12p an hour which is only an extra £30 a month in electricity. Its win win!
