Its defiantly a good style. Its really not that expensive either. The water pump and air pump is pretty much all the cost. I just used uni seals and gorilla glue.
Im currently trying to transition to a continous top feed spray style in three gallon smart pots in flood tables. I just like it better and so far the growth rates seem to be about the same. The advantages for me at least are better than the undercurrent / rdwc..

All you need is a 1/10 hp. They run about $250-$275 brand new. Get you a small/medium cooler and pump that water through the chiller. Get a second pump and run tubing to a wort chiller in your rez and tubing back to the cooler. If you go this route you can chill multiple systems with one chiller and one additional pump. For one rez you can be chilled for $280-$350 max and each additional for only $30-40.
And i will say if you run hydro its the best investment you can make. Rez temps in high 50's to mid 60's and your plants will be so healthy and grow really fast.
I definitely do! But my room gets so hot in the summer months because of its location. The bottles melt within a hour sometimes. I usually change my water weekly just to be safe.

Are you running an rdwc as is there one main res? If so overload the bottles there and the cold will distribute its a bitch but cheaper than a good chiller

Nah, im not. Im doing individual buckets. Pain in the ass. But i like bieng able to move each plant as needed, if somthing goes wrong with one plant, all of them aren't affected, i can pull that one out the grow op. There are some perks to it, but definitely some drawbacks.
