Fort Mac Fire

wtf are you hearing mate. My brother has been up there FIGHTING THE FIRE well before it reached the city...

This is fort mac. The life blood of our country in a lot of ways. Better check yourselves. Unless your up there you cant know what they are and arent doing. This fire is has been too large to extinguish for a long time, well before it reached homes. Unless you know that area, like myself, youd see how impossible it is. Dry brush, +30'C, lighting storms GALORE, massive winds. They have crews from all over up there.

Much love for those working for everyones safety, Fire and EMS. As for Fort Mac, I have some mixed feelings about that place, but friends and family still call that place home.
I hope for your brother's safety.

Everyone's been evacuated so it's just property being lost but it's still unimaginable. Insurance can only cover so much.
Yeah, wow. I mean, especially up there, I'd imagine being destitute to be pretty harsh, considering your environment up there. Higher latitude, more wilderness, etc. Seriously, I hope all of you guys up there end up alright.

Fighting a forest fire up there would be a total nightmare. I worked in the oilsands and I have never seen forest so dense. A squirrel would have a hard time moving through that bush.

I was listening to a show on chernobyl and they had it way worse. they had to evacuate and were not allowed to bring anything, not even pets or toys, and they were told they would be allowed to return in 3 days. then the commies flattened and buried everyone's homes. seems like nature's way of saying fort mac needs a rest. canada cannot suck the petrol titty forever.

My youngest son left one of the surrounding work sites for his 'days off' a week ago, thankfully. He's not sure when or if he'll be going back now.

That's about 60,000 miles. That's roughly 20 times the length of the US. That's unbelievable.

What are they planning to do for containment and extinguishment? And what's the projected date that they expect to have it put out, if at all?

My bad it's 210,000 achers. Sorry for the mix up. That works out to 329 square miles. They are saying now it's to big to put out without rain helping.

A lot of my buddies from round Canada have been sitting in airports. Most have finally been returned home. As far as I know Fort Hills is the one of the only sites running. He may want to find some work in the mean time if he was @ suncor or cnrl. Glad I took this year off.

Wish I could post some of my bro's pics of the action in town, better detail than anything youd see on tv, but photo recognition on social media could help identify who I am n'all..
