Getting ready for outdoor grow 2016

Just placed an order for my 2016 garden. Strains I'm going to try out this year are Berry Bomb Auto (bomb seeds), Northern Lights Auto (White Label), Auto White Widow (Pyramid) and Auto Skunk (sensible seed Co). Last years grow went well despite shit weather, lots of rain and cool temps. Every year I learn a little bit more. LST is very effective on autoflower's but fimming (or topping) is kind of a crap shoot, sometimes it works great but more often then not it stunts growth. I have found that auto flowers grow better in pots and if your going to transplant, do it very early, late transplant stunts growth big time. On my best plants I can pull about an ounce and a half and the smallest yield about 15 grams. So best of luck to all the other growers, I'm excited for another growing season.

I doing my first auto grow & have seen should only transplant once. I started my two plants in a hydroponic germinator (Aerogarden); today I transplanted each into a one quart container like I have done with previous crops; then I usually repot into a 7-10 gallon container in five weeks. Should I repot my plants into the larger container now or can I wait two weeks for the root ball to develop and then transplant. The two plants are 21 days from start, 17 days from germination.

What I do, is after my seeds germinate I put them in a small disposable pot, just so I can bring them inside in case of heavy rain or low temps. Once they sprout from the soil and they get the first set of leaves (the two tiny ones right after the two round ones) I put them in their permanent home. For the initial pot I use either a peat moss seed starter (google for image if you don't know what I mean) or a "jiffy pot". The seed starter I can just put the seedling right into it's permanent home, the roots will grow through the mesh that holds the peat moss together, the Jiffy pot I tear the bottom off after getting it wet and again I put the whole pot into the soil of the new home. This way I never have to disturb the tiny roots or the plant at all. Ideally I'd like to start the plant in it's permanent home from the get go, but I find I need to baby the seedlings from the outdoor elements for the best survival rate. I wouldn't recommend transplanting after 2 weeks (but before 2 weeks your probably fine), these girls grow fast. The sooner you can move them to their permanent home the better. With Auto's you really want the best veg state you can give them, it's very short. My profile pic is from an Auto Skunk that just finished its veg cycle (about 5 weeks after breaking the soil), the better they grow in the early stage, the better the yield during flowering.

A 10 gallon pot is over kill for autos. From what I have seen a 5 gallon pot is big enough and you won't gain anything by going bigger. Just my 2 cents.

If you like Autos check out Mephisto Genetics, they are among the top of the Auto game IMO. I've ran the Alien vs Triangle (4x) and the Heisenberg Special (2x) and was always happy with what I got from them.

Three gallon will also work. I've done grew autos in 1,2 and 3 gallons. 3 gallon yieldws the best but for the space I saved going with 2 gallons equal more buds for me. Just my 2cents. I agree with SHA...10 gallon is over kill for autos.
