Curing question with Boveda 62

Good day guys,

I fucked up my last grow when cured my buds.
I trim them as soon as I cut and put in on the net for around a week.
After I feel outside are dry I put it in jars and open it once a day for 2 weeks.
After that I open it every few days. Still got mold on it
Not sure what I missed Maybe they need more days to dry more to put in the jar?
When you put it in jar. how dry they are? mine is only dry outside, I can feel moisture when I pinch on it

I never know the RH in the jar. I see Boveda 62 can maintain the best RH for cannabis.
I want to try it for my next harvest.
There are few thing I need to get it clear,
Do I have to open the jars every day? or I just put the pack in and they will do their job?
I also see some video teaching how to "recharged it" not sure what that is.
This pack is rechargeable?

All the feedback are appreciate
happy grow

that happened to me too so i got the boveda packs. i like to overdry the weed and then put in the cvaults with boveda packs. then let the packs do there work and bring the RH up to 62. i think i read that the bovedas work better to add humidity vs taking away humidity. i don't burp the jars anymore either.

Thanks for the reply.
How long does it usually takes you to dry them? how it feel when you pinch?
Sorry my English is not good. when you say you dont burp the jars. does that mean you dont open it once you put it in with Boveda?

Also see another similar product called Intergra boost. have anyone here try this before.
What would you recommend?

about 5 to 7 days to dry. i trim after it's dried, not before. so the fan leaves are very dry almost crumbling when i put the buds in the cvaults.

yes, once they go in the cvault with the bovedas i don't open them.

If you're willing to buy boveda packs, then just buy a couple rh meters, they're like $10 on amazon. Throw them in the jars when you think your weed is done drying, it should be crunchy on the outside without the stem completely snapping. Open them up when it goes over 65rh and keep it above 55rh. When you first jar them up, make sure to let the buds sweat out the excess moisture from the middle for 12 hours. After that open the jars and examine them. Moist on the outside? Let them sit for 3-12 hours and see how they feel. I like to aim for 58-62rh for the first month and then gradually bring it down to 55 for long term storage.

The packs have 2 way humidity control. So they'll suck out moisture and let it out to keep a stable level.

The part most people screw up on is that they toss the packs in there when the bud isn't in the cure range and think the pack will even it all out. It WILL do that. But not if it's strait out of the sealed package it's inside when it's opened. You need to get it down to the correct curing RH level it needs to be if it's a new pack. If your buds are at 75% RH and you chuck em in a jar with a Boveda 62 pack it's not going to do anything if the pack can't absorb any more moisture.

On a side note though here recently I had one of the big 60gram Boveda packs that was around halfway dried out. I popped the minimum amount of bud for them in a jar a slapped the dried pack in there as an experiment to see how fast it's absorb the access moisture in the bud. The bud evened out at around 75% during a sweat prior to that. It knocked the RH down into the cure range slowly in about 5 days and it's stayed there. There's still small dry chunks inside of the pack. So the 2way control does in fact work. No mold and it smokes well.

I have one RH meter right now, but its not small enough to put in the jar.
I am thinking about bigger jars, and I can use few big 60 gram Boveda instead of 20 small jars with 8 gram. 60 gram also last longer?

Im in the area where humidity its high, it stay around 70 and even higher when raining.
I guess I can not bring down the RH by left the jar opened? Unless I have my dry room RH under control?
If I can not bring the RH down by left the jar opened. I think i might be a good idea to have it over dry a bit like @rkymtnman did

Appreciated all you guys' feedback
happy grow~

Ins't it hard to trimm when they are dry?
whats your RH and TEMP when in drying?
i've always trimmed after it's dry so i can't compare to wet trimming.

RH i don't monitor, temp is 68F. i hang plants upside down in a dark room with heater at 68F and a small fan blowing at the bottom of the room (not directly on the plants, just to move the air around)

Boveda and CVaults are a great alternative to use.

I advise NEVER overdry buds - ( this stops the curing ). For me using RH meters help
" range " where the buds are during the days of drying. You can place a meter in the room to check the humidity level of your drying area.

For me ... It is EASIER to dial down RH than trying to rehydrate. This where the boveda packs shine. With a meter and jars , i seal buds to guage where RH settles in.

Example : if i see a stable 70% RH ( sealed jar after a few hours ) then i burp jar , stir buds around . At this RH , buds will be sticky. I can at this point , i can leave open for about an hour then reseal. Check RH . If begins to drop , i continue until i hit around 68% , then in goes boveda pack. I use 1 pack per mason.

Then i place a pack in and magic happens !

I did trimmed couple times when its dry, its much harder to trimmed for me.
trimming its another hard work for me tho...

Do dry room need exhaust? or just a fn blowing the air in the room would be fine?

@Budzbuddha Thanks sharing all the detail
your buds look beautiful in the jar~

I wonder whats your RH and temp when drying?
cuz my location RH is high (70-80%)
I can not bring RH lower by let the jar opened, and always got mold when put in jar after two weeks or three. so hope boveda can have my problem solved.

How big is your jar? Which size of boveda you put in it?

where i'm at we have very low RH.

if you really want to dry it correctly, you might want to invest in a dehumidifier for your drying room.

Im at the opposite side of RH - 35% -45 % most days but night time it rises.
Thats why i have to watch whats happening during day , when they are hanging or bagged. It will dry out too damn fast if i dont watch them.

Do you like the cvaults? These look pretty nice and appear to be easier to work with than jars.

I use these........
Veanic 4-pack Mini Hygrometer Thermometer Fahrenheit or Celsius Meter Digital LCD Monitor Indoor Room Round Humidity Temperature Gauge for Humidors Home Humidifiers Car Greenhouse Babyroom https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCPJRFH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-SNdCbB6HGBY8

I buy the reusable, air tight plastic mason jar lids, drill a hole in the lid and pop them in with a little food grade silicone to keep it air tight.
