Am I giving my plant too much light??

Hi guys!

So my plant is doing great, it's a barney farm critical kush. Anyways, I was wondering if I am giving my plant too much light? At the tops it is 110,000+ Lux.

I have read everywhere saying maximum 80,000 lux.... I can't raise my light any higher, 600w hps.

Heat is not an issue, 82f at the tops.

Thanks for any replies!

I don't see any complaints from the plant , no signs of heat or bleaching wouldn't worry about it plants look great.

OK thanks man, this is more of a precautionary post, at the moment it shows no signs, but it's still early days, still has about 4 weeks to go... Everywhere I have read says 50,000 lux is more than enough. And some people get bleaching at only 80,000 lux!

So you can see my cause for concern, the entire interwebz is telling me my plant should be bleached / burned and ready to join the cast of the walking dead! But no.... She stands strong! My beautiful little baby plant :D

I don't know if your joking or not....about running 140k lumens on your plant??

Everywhere I have read says at that light the plant will be toast?? My plant is CLEARLY fine @ 110k...

So is the ENTIRE interwebz wrong??

I just disproved the interwebz, I should get a medal! :D

You would have already seen signs when it was introduced to that environment it won't come later unless the get closer but in this case im sure your stretch period is over.

you would know if i was joking...

understand the sun in mid day is 120,000 lux. in indoor grows with controlled nute ratios and especially with lower uv values we can surpass this, (what the plant is already adapted to)
the idea is pushing the plant to its limits...
unless fluff and mediocre yields are the idea

but again genetics play a role

ive never heard anyone knowledgeable say this on riu...careful where you get info..

700w of cob in 11sq ft and no bleaching. Dank. To much light and you will see dry looking low resin buds. A foot lower and the buds are fine. That way I know. I've tried ~1kw in that area. To much. 650 looks to be the max growth with no side effects. Strain dependent a bit. They do transpire water a lot though. 5 gal promix 3 ft plant drinks a gal a day. Experiment!

oh you can have too much light lol..
put your 1k at 5 inches for a couple weeks and take a few pictures :D

your leaves will thicken and get wider first, then they bleach..
i do purposely give too much light to some of my landraces but thats more of an "advanced" technique and certainly wouldnt recommend unless you know how the strain will react

RM3 have you touched on this in some of your threads yet? Most folk never heard of mid day depression, 'cept when the pub closes hahaha
It's Siesta time for me now, i like a snooze in the afternoon too

Thank you for your reply! I am confused with your response though!

When you say you will have dry looking buds... What do you mean? My intention here is to get maximum yield... Is my light too close?

Thanks man!

Too much light will make a not very sticky dry bleached looking Bud. Still nice looking but not quite right. Very little resin. Also obviously distance is key. I work with 8' ceilings. Max yield check out LST or a type of growing to fill the available space completely. Light proximity is based upon many factors. Look at the avatar of mine or check out other grows. Time will tell!
