Issue with hps bulb getting to hot?

Recently purchased a 400w Hps with a cooltube, don't have the inline fan. But I do have a small fan blowing thru the tube. Just wondering if it's bad for the bulb to get so hot. I feel like it's hotter in the tube than without one since I don't have a proper fan. Room temp is no problem as my door is always open with cool ac blowing in.

If your cool tube is glass covered be careful it doesn't crack. Mine is 600w and i have a big crack in the glass when I left the fan off for about 15 minutes.... Your bulb will be fine....

I have a cool tube been running a 600 for the last 4 weeks and my glass hasn't cracked, I haven't had the inline fan on it since I dropped the 400 out.. unsure as to why yours has cracked, and op if your having problems do the job properly and put the correct fan on it to cool your bulb, otherwise you'll have problems later which you may not recover from, for what it costs to get a fan to how much bud you could lose I know what I would do!!

if you didn't have heath issues without the cooltube... why in the first place do you get yourself one?
You will only reduce your light intensity and effecient spreading...

winged reflector all the way, get a fan to blow over/under the bulb in the direction of your extractor fan and voila. works perfect !

I actually bought this whole oracle 400w Setup for 60 Bucks. So I wasn't doing to much complaining when I saw a cooltube on it knowing I didn't have an inline. Anyways, setup works perfect, I have a small fan blowing thru the tube so it helps a bit. Definetly don't want to crack it as i may use it latet.

As in life some things are defective. Maybe my glass was defective, who knows... I can only speak from experience and as it was only cracked it is still being used. Maybe time to get my wing reflector out again.... Sod the fans...

I've always been told that you don't use an air cooled hood or cool tube with the glass in and no fan as the bulb can heat up the glass and cause it shatter, just what I've heard tho

Yeah I don't like my lights on without my inline fan I have taken steps to avoid that by using a single timer for both items. If you can get your hands on an open hood that would be best

That is a problem with the hood's glass it should not crack just because there is not air going through it will get hot but glass should not break, use a larger out take fan i use a 12 inch going through two cool vented hood's temp's never get above 25/28 ,24/25 winter 27/28 summer.

Sometimes when weather is really cool in winter i take the duct work of and lower the out take, using the hoods like you would a bat wing, send the maker of the hood a e mail telling them whats gone wrong they may have been a problem with the glass.

This may sound mad but my t5 veg room run's has hot has my main flowering room i use a 6 tube,t 5 for vegging.

I have a timer, board a sparky made me at work 6 sockets all rigged to one timer, but i have done away with that now and bought the same thing but from hydro shop takes 4 double sockets with one timer. It's a lot smaller and is made from metal,i'm funny about my room's been safe,The one i had made for me was made on fire board and was safe but was big and ugly, all the room's i build are also made from fire board double boarded, and foamed with flame proof foam in the stud work, and the voids of the frame's i build

Cracked glass is defective glass or glass that got exposed to a sudden temperature change. Watch out! Dont sneeze on the cool tube while the lights on lol it could easily crack it.

If this is the case then you are not using the right out take fan i can put my hand on my glass, and it only feels warm never hot go over kill with the inlet and out let.

Going from cold glass to hot glass isnt an issue. Its when you reverse the order it becomes an issue and will cause cracked/broken glass. It can even shatter instantaneously if cooled too quickly.

Nah my glass NEVER gets past 85-90f at 1000w i use active sealed hoods with overpriced hydrofarm blowers, but look at HIS!! fucker must be blazing hot

My fan that goes from filter to out doors,is on 24/7 my hoods have never had a issue they cool down really fast once lights go out,i think its prob more likely a problem with the glass.

But like i say i use large out take and inlet so the lights never really get that warm i get what your saying bro, extreme but like putting a glass in a microwave then putting ice cold water in it cracks everytime
