Please join me tonight at 8:00 PM PT for a live online broadcast entitled “Protecting Access in Your Community.” I will be talking with you about how to stop and reverse local bans on medical cannabis cultivation, delivery, and dispensing. There will be a time for comments and questions from participants.

Log into the live broadcast a little before 8:00 PM tonight at this URL. You may need to install free software if this is your first Google Hangout. A Google Hangout is a live interactive event that you can join from your computer or mobile device:

You may also watch the broadcast live on YouTube at 8:00 PM tonight, without installing software, at this URL. You will not be able to use the interactive features on YouTube:

More than 100 cities and counties have banned medical cannabis in response to a drafting error in state law that would have made state regulators the sole licensing authority for commercial medical cannabis cultivation in jurisdictions that did not adopt local regulatory ordinances before March 1, 2016. That frightened local lawmakers, who feared losing regulatory authority in their communities.

Many cities and counties have responded to the inadvertent deadline by banning medical cannabis cultivation and other commercial activity. Unfortunately, some jurisdictions have overreached by also banning cultivation of medical cannabis by individual patients and their designated primary caregivers.

The state legislature is moving quickly to correct the error. AB 21 (Wood), which will delete the deadline, may be on its way to the Governor for a signature this week. The urgency bill takes effect as soon as the Governor signs it, giving local governments time to consider and adopt more reasonable medical cannabis ordinances.

Will they do it? That may depend on what they hear from constituents like you. ASA launched the Local Access Project to help support advocates who are working to stop bans or adopt sensible ordinances and voter initiatives. You can find helpful tools online right now, and more are on the way. Check out the webpages on writing a campaign plan, fundraising for you local effort, and resources for organizers before tonight’s broadcast.

I look forward to talking with you tonight. Please share this message with friends and loved ones who care about medical cannabis.

Sincerely,

Don Duncan, Americans for Safe Access

i think it will be interesting to see how this all pans out. i don't think the MMRSA will stand up in court. the compassionate care givers act of 1996 (prop 215) that was signed into effect after a majority of Californians voted yes; cannot be overturned; unless voted on again by the people...and even then i am skeptical. every patient is guaranteed their right to grow 6 plants. no county in the state has power to supersede state law; which would be a direct violation of prop 215 ; upheld by the California supreme court.

SB 420 Enforcement Guidelines

*State law, SB 420 (Health & Safety Code 11362.7), which took effect on Jan. 1, 2004, protects Prop. 215 patients from arrest provided they cultivate no more than 6 mature or 12 immature plants and possess no more than 8 ounces of dried marijuana (H&SC
11362.77(a)
).*

*Counties and cities are authorized to establish higher (but not lower) limits if they wish (H&SC 11362.77(c)). Listed above are those localities that have adopted limits above the state limit.*

people just need to grow anyways and have a good lawyer.... these bullshit scare tactics are just that... the 1930's are over and Hearst is dead; fuck these dystopian baby boomers

Apparently, most prop 215 users are unaware that there would not be any Prop. 215 if it were not for Steve Kubby.

The biggest lesson we learned from Prop. 215 is that you must repeal all those pot laws or police will find a way to use them. MCLR repeals those law once and for all.

To counter the epidemic of bans, MCLR requires such decisions be put to a vote of all the voters, not just some conservative asshats on a city council or board of supervisors.

All initiative petitions must be signed on paper, with blue or black ink, on a petition from the county you are registered to vote in. Believe it or not, at least 10% of those signatures (more in controversial initiatives, or those with problems getting enough signatures to make the ballot) will actually be compared to the signature you used when you registered to vote, and if they do not resemble each other, your signature will not be counted.

You guys are @ the beginning of the end for small time pharmers-
-same thing going on across the nation--->CONTROL=tax&regulate

soon the majority will be back underground in the shadows
-problem is we're all on lists now
-they're herding the cats into the box

'Legal-lies'zation-only benefits the ones at the top
-and the lawyers of course
Only thing legalization does is sanctify commercial production
-if you thought you would vote for legal-lieszation and get to sell your weed to dispensaries ...think again-
They grow their own once their sanctioned
-why would they buy your small time crap when they can have a warehouse now...?
-in michigan the 20-30somthings there think legal-lieszation is gonna benefit them-pffffft-brainwashed idiots everywhere
-the lawyers in mich are pulling them around by their diks on roller skates like you guys

Here your latest CA-
Looks like legal-lies zation will take you back to 12or 6plants and heavy scrutiny
In mich legal-lieszation will put all cgs on the regulate framework-to be taxed and heavily scrutinized w permits inspections etc-

My friends in oregon ,washington, and colorado tell me the legal-lies zation is a ruse and most cant comply w the new rules by design-

Creates a mandate and new rules and lots and lots of new revenue from enforcement-

Just vote no against the bullshit

---------------------------

From out-of-work loggers to struggling students, thousands of Golden State growers eke out a living on small-scale marijuana farms. But full legalization may deliver the hardest hit yet.

Nevada and Yuba counties are roiling with political arguments over pot cultivation

At issue: Do efforts to ban outdoor farms unfairly hurt legitimate medical pot growers and patients?

Sacramento, Davis voters also will consider marijuana-related taxes

While a gram of marijuana might go for $20 at the dispensary, a permit to sell marijuana might go for hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars.

Just follow the old rules and nothing will change-
They will use the extra $$from legal-lies to create a ATFM-division to enforce the new rules-like colorado-
Can you say 'compliance checks'...?

Heres some lighter news-so you arent too bummed out-

Make sure you watch this and listen carefully [again] if you haven't
...and note what tim blake says-
hes trying to get the producer counties to back the auma initiative-

I like 'grandaddy mikes' comment best@48:41
Also the lawyers sitting here are the reason people are being fooled by this bS-

-remember 'NORML' has had 40+yrs to work on this shit-why do you think they havent changed anything...
Now they're foaming at the mouth to get in on the licensing and regulatory fees-

-lawyers make big$ from the status quo of erb-
ive heard the 'pot'[sic] lawyers in mich have on average over 100+cases going at any given time-
100+cases@30,000$@case =alot of $$$

NORML stand for =national organization for the Refferal of marijuana lawyers--let that sink in

Unfortunately without that business license your screwed, the state does not care that you continued to pay your taxes and keep your nonprofit open,, We have ALL been thrown under the bus. If your NOT LEGAL in your Local Jurisdiction, the State wont even talk to you...

You still have time to find that magical space! But unfortunately after MMRSA started Bannapalooza, even if you find the space, the city has BANNED YOU, so,,, BACK TO THE UNDERGROUND.. Save Your Money!
