Hey there,

Well I broke my tent cherry today and finally picked one out. It's the one I have been looking at for awhile now and the total cost was $74.99 including shipping with a 5% coupon I figured they are all going to be somewhat cheap no matter which one I pick for under $100 and I might as well get the one with the heavier material and solid metal poles.. The Size is 24" x 24" x 55" and I have been looking over fan choices for over a week now trying to figure out what I can use that will work.
Quictent II 24" x 24" x 55" Hydroponics Grow Tent

I will probably use 2 fans one for intake and one for scrubber? and they will need to be quiet and low db.

How much cfm will it take to scrub a small tent like that? and how big of a carbon filter?

Does anyone have any pictures of set ups in small tents or know of links to some?

Thanks!

Oh I am going to squeeze a 4 cob light I am making into this thing I figure I will prolly have to run it at 50%

at 1.4mA this is what the 4 Cobs will put out.

30,024 Lumens.@ 195.2 watts.

Do you think I will need more air flow to keep things cooled down in a 2x2?

I think I can go down to about 1.2A and still have about 7,000 lumens a sq ft.

4" inline fan (172 cfm) attatched to a 24" carbon scrubber would probably work. With a passive intake. IMO.

OK I got the tent today and everything looks good and it went together fine, I will get some pics of this tent soon.

It's as small as I imagined...:P But I did not plan on growing a lot of plants.

Decided to build my own 4 inch carbon air scrubber and find a 4 inch fan sometime in the next month.

you will have to mount the filter inside, a 4" carbon style, with an inline fan on the outside. You can mount the four COB's with no problem concerning heat. The COBS fans and exhaust fan will be adequate. Exhaust outside hopefully thru a window or something. should be fine. nice tent. peace

Open it up and put a rotating fan in her and air her. Looks good.
My veg room does not have scrubber only when starting of flowering have I used a scrubber.
Might look at a fan speed controller in future for exhaust. I use mine.
But enjoy.

Thanks,
Still looking over exhaust fans inline fans etc.....it will be close to sleeping area so I need to know the best fan to turn down and get quiet. There are so many kinds and really not enough in depth reviews to feel comfortable pulling the trigger on one. Prices can range from $60 -140 Venttech, S&P, Blauberg, etc....I guess mixed air is the best way to go for silence.

I will be building a carbon filter that should fit nicely. I have look over those small clip on fans and have pretty much come down to a couple choices and most of them just seem like cheap wind movers.

Well for a tent of 1.5'x3'x5' I just mounted a 4" PC fan on the top (I didn't use a commercial grow tent just a Walmart portable closet, $30) and hung another one inside at one end to blow a breeze over the canopy. It works fine, no mold, no excessive heat, though the LED heat sink is outside the top of the tent, of course. Be pretty crazy to put a heat sink inside a tent, right?

I clipped a square of carbon air purifier filter over it, the kind that looks like those green scrubby pads but black. Two squares on top each other reduced air flow too much though. I just put an air purifier in the room with extra carbon pads zip tied to the back of it, I used two layers on that, could use more if I wanted but this seems to suffice. I wouldn't bother going nuts with the ventilation for a 2'x2' tent.

hehe,,,,,I already have 15 lbs of decent activated carbon coming and most of the materials to make my own scrubber. What's funnt is i bought the stuff I wanted to use for the scrubber and then found someone using the basic same things I picked out. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=164537

I figured it all out I need about a constant 90-100 CFM flow during flowering.

Basically all I really need to find is the fan I am going to use that will work with the scrubber I am making.

I have several in mind like these. still debating whether or not to get the 6 inch and turn it down.

The only question I really have is which one is quieter.....that is going to matter most.

Well I guess 15 lbs of carbon aughta do it. I wouldn't let it exhaust anywhere inside though, since it will probably blow a bunch of microscopic carbon particles in the air, and as any miner will tell you, carbon in your lungs ain't great.

I am still in development mode as far as exhaust and filtering this is one of the reasons I need the better airflow is to have enough to pull and filter both ways. I won't have this all set up until after august when the temps drop outside.

The Carbon is pretty good the average size is 6/10 only has 2% water and is heated coal based granular premium.

Heat-activated bituminous coal-based Black Diamond
Mesh size is 6 x 10
Iodine number (mg/g) = 1000 minumum
Molasses number = 300 typical
Contains less than 2% moisture

I use a delta 90 mm by 38 mm 12v high cfm pc fan in my 2x4x4 box and it draws 120cfm. Keeps my box at a steady 84 with a 600 watt hps turned down to 75%.

I think I have one of those left size 120 mm from building my computer.or something very close.

Yeah I found it Adda 12v .5 amp only 96 cfm

OH I ended up getting the S & P TD 100x for $67.

I just bought this one as an upgrade

Nice fan! I thought about going with something like that, but I need the quiet one where it's going to be.

If I do get an upgrade it'll probably be one of the newer silent vortex type fans or something in that type of fan.

I really wanted to go with those type, but it's so close to sleeping quarters I did not have a choice really.
