Brown film on roots

Ive used tap water for 5 years now and never have issues with it. You dont need an RO filter unless your tap sucks and is 200ppm plus
Mines 165. But even if it was lower, when running DWC, I don't see any reason why anyone WOULDN'T just use R/O water anyways. It's so much better. Gives you a clean slate to get your ppms exactly where you want them and ensures any bullshit is filtered out. Mine goes from 165 to a solid 13 when it comes out. ;)

My ppm is 80(0.16EC) right out the tap. No expensive filters.

RO is bad for the environment unless you are reclaiming the wasted water. Every 3 gallons you waste you get a gallon of RO.

And its not necessary unless you have really bad water.

Get a water test for $40 and know everything jn your water.

Mine is mostly calcium carbonate, calcium and sodium.

Yeah I washed hydroton. My leaf tips are starting to curl under. When I changed my res out I didn't add cal mag like usual. Wonder if that's why there curling? Seems like one Thing after another
Calmag is a micro. It doesnt use that much of it to affect right away. Also a deficiency is orange spots (calcium) and interveinal chlorosis (Mag)

Leaf tips curl under due to the start of a N toxicity or when they arent happy either because they dont have enough O2(not enough airstones or water level too high) or too much food.

Question when I'm changing out my res how long can I keep a plant out of the water. I wanna really scrub each bucket good. Should I put plant in bucket with water or without while cleaning? Is 30 minutes too long for plant to be sitting on top of empty bucket

Naw man. Youre overthinking this. Which is common. But stop.

These are resilient plants. I left a male without water for about 10 days before it started to show signs of no water. The leaves yellowed from nutritional deficiencies before it drooped.

Well after cleaning and doing everything I could yesterday slime if back tonight and plant looks like shit I'm thinking about shutting down my DWC before it spreads to the others and trying to pull the plants out of net baskets and put them in soil before they die. I'll take a pic in next few hours and post it here. Do you think is possible to remove plant from basket and have it grow in soil. I'm just super fuxking frustrated at this point. I have other plants but they won't be done till fall I was counting on these autos for smoke

Doesnt look like slime to me.

Looks like roots dirty from hydroton.

Ditch that zyme shit. Just use base nutrients and calmag if you need it. Plants that small you should be running 1/4 strength. Calmag should be 1ml/gal if at all.

Keep pH in check and monitor EC and you should be good.

Ok any idea why my leafs are curling. Just checked and that one plant in the pic it's leafs are a lot more curled then they were yesterday in the pic ? Also how log can I take a plant out of its res to clean it? Is 20-30 too long for plant to sit on top of an empty bucket

Ive told you this twice already.

It depends how small they are but 20-30minutes isnt that long no matter their size.

Sorry I didn't see your reply anywhere
Ph5.8
I use advanced nutes 3part I give 5 ml of each per bucket
Cal mag 5 ml per bucket
Hydroguard 15 ml per bucket
Canazyme 10ml per bucket
But I'm gonna change res and not add canazyme
I'll take pics this afternoon and post tonite

Some pics of plants . I bleached all buckets stones and hoses. Also rinsed each net pot with ph'd water. Wasn't much slime on roots today but the leaves are really curling in on all plants one has some rust colored spots and try just aren't looking good in general.
As far as nutes go I put in
Micro-10ml
Grow-10ml
Bloom-10ml
Hydroguard-10ml
cal mag-8ml
No Cana this time
H202 1 cap full
PH is 5.7
PPM- 400 +/-
Does anyone ever use Epsom salt in DWC?

H2o2 will kill the hydroguard since it's a bacteria. So it's one or the other. Everything else looks good. Once you've decided on sterile (h2o2) or beneficial: hydroguard it will take a couple days to 'recover' and show new growth. As long as they don't continue to decline in health. If the roots are not fairly developed it can take a minute. You will know when they are growing again when the roots really start to take off. If you actually do have an infection, a good idea is to use h202 once, wait 24 hrs, one more dose, then 24 hrs later add the hydroguard (3ml/gal) and you are set. Plants don't respond super fast when they are young. Honestly I pay attention to the roots more than anything. Good root growth means good top growth. Don't give up, you're really close!

Thanks appreciate your input I didn't realize peroxide and Hydroguard cancel eah other out essentially good to know. You use 3 ml per gallon of guard. I was told 2 ml. How much cal mag would ou say per gallon for young plants? As they grow should I increase the amounts of all nutes?

For hydroguard, I like 3ml/gal. bottle says 2 i believe. Nice thing about h2o2 is that it will evaporate after a short time, so you can sterilize your system and then add the hydroguard after it's evaporated. For calmag, I only use 2ml/gal all the way through, and I do use ro water too. Sometimes I cut it out because I never see any deficiencies. In hydro you really need to measure your nutes by ec/ppm. Everyone's system is a little different, but there are commonalities. Using gh nutes, I max out at 1.4ec (700ppm .500 scale). They seem to be able to handle .8 to 1.0 early on without any problems. That's usually the ec when the roots hit the water. Around week 5 in flower they seem to like a lower ec, around 1.0 and a higher ph, closer to 6.0-6.2. Another tip I just remembered when the roots are still developing like that, I like to take a scoop of water a couple times a day from the bucket it's in and pour it over the top to give the roots not exposed to the water a dose of nutes. If you can get those roots to grow, the rest will take care of itself.

Thanks. I'm still getting use to this whole EC ppm thing is never heard of it up until few weeks back then I got a meter and I do check the ppm levels when changing my res weekly I just have a little beaker in use to measure out the nutrients when addin them. That's why I had written the measurements in ML for Firsttimer because he had asked what and how much he's been helping me out a bunch as of late. Hey how do you like a post on here I noticed you liked mine I can't figure out how to do it

Can I ask do you have a reverse osmosis system or where do you get the water? I hear everyone talking about RO water I looked and system seems way too expensive for me but I wish I had something better than tap water. Although mines not too bad ph is usually 6.8 and has a ppm of 68
Question have you ever used Epsom salt in hydro?

If uoure having a magnesium def. epsom is good. Or if you mix your own nutrients. Your nutes should have enough.

Your tap water is great! You dont need RO.
