I do a bit of "lollypopping" - NOTHING like that - But I grow taller more "natural" shaped plants too! Oh yeah I top them!

I do take some leaves off the last week or so. Water only. Most are fading. 11 sq ft. ~700w in soil grow. I'll see around 1000g of bud. I have learned it all here.

Defoliation is necessary if done properly it can double even triple yields...you can use as a tool to speed up flowering cycle or create larger single flowers HOWEVER without proper experience and knowledge of horticulture i recommend less is more in this case..start with a few leafs n work ur way up..dont cut into a plant when it was began fruiting/buding it will lower final yield. (Week or 2 of give to that rule only if your experienced)...progressively (de-leaf) dont take alot off at once or it will slow growth..if defoliation is done proper the plant should grow faster and produce big better quality fruit... Referr to mainlining/supercroping/progressive defoliation

This argument/discussion has been going on for decades and will not stop. When I first started growing many articles and how to guides promoted pulling off sun leaves to promote bigger secondary bud sites and yes I did that but never found it to help so stopped. These were outdoor grows and perhaps it is helpful indoors but I could never get it to do anything but stunt growth as much as I tried

I would truly like to see a pictorial progression of that! Larger single flower thing please! I'm not saying it can't be done but, every time someone takes that up, They quit and we have yet to actually "see" bigger budding by defoliation..
While I have seen some interesting yields in weight related to defoliation. I have never seen defoliated plants produce bigger buds. In fact a friend practices defoliation all the time. Nice weight yields, great quality, solid, rock hard little buds. = Low bag appeal. Even the mains are smaller then "normal" - some times way smaller...
I saw one pic that was claimed to be the result of progressive defoliation. Yet it looked more like the potential of the strain was reached. Shit ton of topping to.....Rather impressive. Each topping "split or division" was "branchless" and had NO stem leaves, in fact nothing till right up to the budding.. I found that to be rather suspicious as the plant was going to be harvested right after the pic was taken

I am positive some selective de-leafing is beneficial, but heavy defoil is a big no no. What captures the lights rays better, small suger leaves or those big ass "solar panels"? I myself have cut of nearly all the leaves off and, well my plant is suffereing. Definitely won't be making that mistake again!

Be selective of where u cut n how much your cutting u should always yield more from defoliaton...never take off all the leafs untill ur ready to chop down whole plant

Left one plant alone for the most part, the other three I defoliated heavily at about week 6, and week 9 after germination. Not any difference in yield. But fuck! The defoliated plants were kicking out medium sized fan leaves with trichs, buds got super sticky. 40 grams of dried trim made 9 grams of dry ice hash.
I dont think it has anything to do with the light. I think it triggers the plant to go into defense mode and produce more resin. I also think defoliating removes an inhibitory hormone if done before flowering that allows the budsite to sprout a new stem. Just like LST. I train my cherry tomatoes the same way and can get them to grow wherever the fuck I want by popping off a big fan leaf.
