I just had a very shitty experience doing business with a supposedly reputable led company called Illumitex in Austin Texas. On april 8th I purchased two of their Neosol NS fixtures for $1400 bucks with visa, and then sent a letter explaining that the lights were being purchased for a high stakes medical grow, that I was disabled, and that I needed them as soon as possible. They shipped weeks after my purchase, the product was unusable, they never answered or returned a single phone call, they gave no technical support, they rarely answered emails, and when they did they never directly answered any of my questions.
I didn't receive my lights for close to a month (early may) and they shipped me lights that couldn't be hung, and didn't match their specification pdf, product description, or advertising. The mounting hardware brackets didn't match the design shown on their website or the box. the included brackets were machined so poorly that they were all noticeably different shapes, and they couldn't support the weight of the fixture at all. some slid right out as soon as there was any weight on the chain, and the rest didn't fit at all. When I contacted them, they made it clear that dealing with their manufacturing defect was my responsibility and not theirs. they then told me to make extensive modifications to the unit, even though they already knew I was disabled and this was not an option. More importantly, it would have voided the warranty effectively washing their hands of any legal responsibility to provide me with a functioning product. I pointed that out to them and they agreed to send replacement mount brackets. A week later I contacted them asking why I had not received my replacement parts, no response but they shipped that day lol. When the brackets arrived more than a week later, they still did not match the parts in the specifications, photos, or product description, and were almost identically flawed. the lights still could not be hung.
At this point I requested a return and full refund. I then received a series of emails that entirely disregarded my request for a return, and then no further responses for a full week. At that point, I sent a more strongly worded return request to every listed email address on their site, and finally received a response saying that I would be issued an rma the next day. I received the rma and friends mailed the lights back to texas for me. Fedex confirmed delivery, and that the packages had been signed for at illumitex. I didn't hear from them for 3 more days, so I sent another email saying that I had received delivery confirmation, and again requesting my refund.
I then received an email from illumitex requesting additional payments from me through a wire transfer. So to be clear, they had my money as well as the product in hand and still demanded further payment from me in the form of a wire transfer. (what they think I'm a fucking mark??) There was also an improperly filled out invoice form attached that made no sense at all, and apparently valuing my purchase at half of what I paid for it. I sent a very clearly worded email explaining the legal commitments their company had made to me in both personal correspondence and their limited warranty statement. One business week later, I finally got an email saying they're reversing the credit card transaction. The refund finally came through on May 23rd. Dealing with illumitex has been completely bizarre, and a waste of two months I could have been growing plants. They have tried to pull crooked shit on me at every step in the process.
I'm warning everyone in this community to stay clear, took me almost two months to shake these fucking fools. #420JUSTICE
