BEING MEDICTED ISNT THE SAME AS BEING IMPAIRED FOR ALL USERS. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Just because you can't smoke then drive safely we all shouldn't have the right removed.

Yes it is. It is a chemical fact. Any doctor or chemist will tell you so.

Now how well one guy functions while "impaired" compared to another guy is another thing.

But who is to be the judge of that? It is subjective. That is why with alcohol they have .08. You might think you are fine at that level but another is not. The fact is, however, EVERYBODY has slower reaction times at .08. And that is why .08 is the number.

So what's the limit? When are you ok to drive and when not? How is that decided? Tell us you have all the answers.

That will require clinical tests once they come up with a method for measurement that is consistently accurate like the one for alcohol.

Remember... we are all is uncharted territory with weed legalization, just like alcohol decades ago.

There are issues that will come up that havent even been thought of yet. Just like alcohol...

Hahahahah... you must be 12 years old or severely uneducated...
You're the one that thinks there's some magic test other then a feild sobriety test that can prove impairment. There isn't. There isn't a magic number that shows impairment like with alcohol. That's why a weed breathalyzer will never accurately be able to show impairment. Nor a blood/piss/ect test to show impairment. Cognitive testing is it. But go ahead and tell me how I'm wrong.

I agree with everything you just said. My understanding is of traffic fatalities involving cannabis increasing at a significant amount in Colorado.
I just want to clarify a few things.
I meant the cannabis community isn't talking about "smoking responsibly" and I think they should. It would go along way for the movement. And you're absolutely right, they'll assign a blood level that heavier users, myself included, have to work with. For me, after 1.5-2hrs after smoking I feel I'm good to go. That's every day. But how do you measure that?
I'm also not against dispensaries. I'm a medical user and don't have a card but the two places I went into wouldn't sell to me without a script. Whatever. That's why I'm growing my own.
Do you remember that school in Brampton(?) that was right next door to a legal grow op in a house? The smell was wafting into the classrooms. To me that's just stupid and irresponsible to the cause. I kind of feel the same about this.
Good point. Our "community" needs to start talking responsibly about a lot of issues in this legalization movement or we wont be taken seriously enough to have any say in the matter at all. And we just have to take what they give us....

You need to broaden your definition of impairment. It doesnt mean that you are drunk or stoned. It means that your ability to do things normally is "impaired" interfered with... stifled some how.

Now as i said above the reason .08 blood alcohol level is where the law draws the line is because that is where EVERBODY shows slowed ("impaired") reaction times... that become lethal.

You may not feel drunk at .08 but your reaction time is much slower. Go ahead test yourself. Play your Xbox straight and then play it after 3 or 4 beers... or after smoking a good sized bowl.

See...you already know what im saying is true from video games...

There is no magic number. There is only impaired to the point you can't past feild sobriety cognitive test or you're not impaired. The little "play your Xbox" nonsense you're on about is a cognitive test. Thanks for confirming exactly what I'm saying. Cheers big ears.

Yes. Cognitive test. What else would there be? And there will be a magic number whether you like it or not just like with booze. The line will have to be drawn somewhere...

I dont drink and drive. I dont text and drive. And i dont smoke and drive. People that do are stupid. Never mind the law. It is just plain stupidity. The risk is too great.

Now grow up.

How about the fact that long term use Causes the receptors in the brain to become lazy and damaged. Meaning to get those receptors to send the signals that cause us (long term smokers) a high feeling we need a much higher dose of thc level. So how you figure my damage level on the fly or electronically.

Well...i dunno... misfiring synapses might show on a cognitive test as being impaired. Maybe not. I dunno...

But if so.. then maybe you shouldnt be driving?

I mean there are other medical conditions that disqualify people from the privilege of having a drivers license.. sucks, but... it is true...

If they dont work right it means you lose out on certian feelings does change any motor skills. They need to stick to road side soberity tests like they do now. People on here want to compare our meds to alcohol. So let me ask you this? How can i be not too drunk that is pass the test and can drive away, but yet if i have marijuanna in my system and pass the test im impaired. They alreay have laws for driving impaired why make a new test thats designed to give false readings.

I know a guy that passed a road side test with no problem. And then got pulled over 1/2 hour later and blew .246. He was sloshed.

I also read about a woman who failed a road side test and when they made her blow she came up at .024, well below.

There is no perfect test.

In eastern Europe many countries just go with zero tolerance. If you have had a drink you are not legal to drive...period. That is the way it should be.

I don't drink and drive, I don't text and drive, and I don't smoke and drive....I will smoke before I drive. That's not stupid....If I'm focusing on how much pain I have I can't focus on driving. The odd time I do get "high" I don't drive.

There are already stong test in use by law enforcement that are capable of detecting impairment. No need for any laws to change. Yes the amount of stoned drives on the road will go up with legalization just due to the fact more people will be using it then currently do. DUI arrest will also go up for people impaired by mj as the number of stoned drives goes up. As I've said many times high isn't equal to impaired. The test we already have are sufficient to keep the roads safe. I know when I'm not safe to drive. There's no magic thc/blood ratio to prove when I'm impaired. Intelligent people already know this.
And new roadside spit testers for drugs. If the $$ there, any kind of roadside tester can be invented.
Cops are NOT worried about increase in pot drivers. They bust for drug impaired driving now, procedures in place for years. Take you to the station. Coordination tests etc. If they don't think you fit to drive, then no drive. Not perfect. Maybe so sick with grief or something, should not be driving. So, no drugs and still off the road for a while.
A fake issue.

i am a heavy user and smoking a joint or a bowl won't get me so I am "wasted" it's like having one beer.
i haven't gotten "stoned" in a long time so i would be curious how they would say I'm impaired.
i don't think inexperienced users should drive but if you are a daily user medically, you don't get wasted...or very rarely.
the last time i was "wasted" was a few years ago and even then, wait 30 minutes and you're back under the clouds....maybe not good enough to drive. i would wait another 30 or eat something

You are talking about Canada right ???

Guess what - we will not be getting any say. Have you heard of bill blair ? He has said we have no say, were have you been ???
We will be treated as the problem and to listen to anyone from the MMJ or CC side would be counter productive. They have -cops / politicians / mental health workers / HC quacks, that are called on for advice. Our input is neither required nor warranted as they have told us that over and over again.
