i got my 25 led tubes 20 w 3500 k, [self powered].good beam angle...they connect to each other..i will give my aquaponic bro six to try for a 4x 4 area ..if we can get 12o w to do 4 x 4 it will be frealu good..they are lightweight..and we can get em close and still have the spread..

What is the output on those tubes? Any specifics you can share, brand etc?

Crushing it!!! Do you have any considerations for increasing the spacing? My hydro head is far and away doing the best of what I have, but its about half the size of these.
Initially I had thought the spacing was too far apart, but once they go going, they really took off. I think it just depends a lot on what type of lettuce you are running.... My mom gave these girls a haircut and they arent looking nearly so nice now. Gonna see how long they can keep being harvested before they go bitter or seed. They are in the basement and its cool down there, usually about 65 degrees F.

Those are pretty good conditions IMO, My indoor peppers are doing better than outdoor, and butterhead is doing well given the two soil ones had a bit of a recovery.

Outside the bug net really helps but I'm going to have to put up a shade screen in a few weeks.

Heres some plants I have going under Cidly Aquabar LED's (above).
(below) Ive also got 2 recently set up Kratky units at home under a homemade COB bar, 6 x cxb2530 3000k 90cri @ 700mA dimmed significantly right now. Growing spinach, kale, and 3 varieties of lettuce, wasnt sure about plant spacing, these are 15 gallon totes. Also yellow lids let in some light, but not much at this intensity.
Can you give us some details on the heat sinks on your cob bars? Do you think they could be run passive?

They are the 42long 1.8 inch sinks from heatsinkusa. Im running cxb2530's on them on a meanwell c700b driver. Ive got 2 fans mounted and when they are running full power (150w) the sinks get pretty warm with the fans off. Im actually running them at about 70% power with the fans disconnected tho and they are just slightly warm to the touch. I bet if I had 3590s on the same sink at the same current, full power they could be dang close to running passive, would be about a 20% efficiency boost going that way. They are in a cool environment tho, and not enclosed in a tent or anything like that.

Larger folgers kratky plant is getting too tall, almost touching the lights now. Will have to chop it and start over soon. Heres an updated pic. I learned something interesting, if you refill the water, most of the roots that are submerged will die, need to cut the roots off so they are just barely touching the water and plant will keep growing well like that. Else you end up with a soggy mess.

Water was running low so I cut more than half the roots off and refilled the can last week, here is how they look now.

Starting a new little experiment, all the same variety of lettuce. Livingston Seed Grand Rapids TBR. In passive hydro with rain water. Started them in a seed starting mix, separated seedlings, washed soil out of roots and cut the roots so they are just touching the water in bottom of netcups, for 5 best plants out of about 13 that grew.

Added 1ml of floranova grow to each reservoir for now, in the next few days I will adjust the fertilizer concentration from 300ppm to 800ppm in 100ppm increments, and document the growth differences and any problems, if there are any. They are all under my cidly aquabars, relatively centered so they should get similar amounts of light each....
