Putting Weed In Dehydrator For Edibles?

I'm not a smoker and I care nothing for taste. Will it effect the potency if I just dry my weed in a nesco dehydrator at 90 degrees and then make brownies and other delicious treats out of it?

I also want to make some coconut infused cannabis oil.

I read that drying and curing properly effects potency, but is it really that much of a difference? Is it noticeable in edibles?

Perhaps you are getting no responses because no members that have ever tried to use a dehydrator have seen this thread....If you let it air dry you should be fine to make your oil and canna-butter (IMHO butter is better than plant material in edibles anyway). Since you do not smoke and do not care about the actual cannabis flavor...curing would be superfluous. So, why use a dehydrator that may or may not effect potency?

Just for quick meds. I am moving soon and harvest is coming up. Don't know if I'll have time to dry for 4-5 days. Carrying that amount with me to my new house would be risky

Well...PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS ADVICE OF ANY KIND. I have seen growerz use the quick dry oven method for larger than 'samples' of their gurlz. I saw a video where a guy put an ounce and a half in his oven at about 150 D Fahrenheit He wrapped it loosely in some paper towel and then wrapped that loosely in tin foil. Left it for about 45 minutes pulled the paper towel off put it back in the foil for 15 minutes.

Again...this is not advice or even anything I would ever do...but I have seen it done...you have a unique situation if you are moving especially if you are going between states. If you are, you probably don't want to add transport over state line charges...jail is bad enough... federal prison? No thank you! So, if I were in that situation, I would also look for ways to quickly resolve the problem as best as I could.

Disconnect the heating element and it will dry your weed in like 4 days. I used to do this a while back

May be 6 years old but still has no answers.. Maybe because there's no point drying what you will turn into edibles.

I use food dehydrator all the time for lowers once I run out of hanging space. 35C for 8-10 hrs then I turn it on and off every few-several hours. Takes about a day with no potency issues.

I'm with you. There really isn't any reason to smoke. Advantage, faster high. Disadvantage, shorter high with smoke, you burn your throat, and a whole lot of other things. Anyhow, when people say they would rather smoke it doesn't make any difference to me, just whatever they want. But, I do tell them to look in their PIPE and remind them the crud doesn't stop there.

Decarb weed has a certain smell about it I use a dehydrator to smoke a early nug and sometimes it comes out smelling like it's partially decarb only for 15 mins at 165 too

so I'd say if you left it in there for a couple hours at 165 or more it would probably finish decarboxylation



THIS IS MY OPINION this is by no means advice it's just my two cents

I went back to read the page again before I moved on and found this. I've heard about them but never seen one. Thanks for the recipe. I see moon rocks to be about pea size, ground up decarbed bud rolled into a ball with oil, and dusted with kief. Does this sound about right?
