Darkroom 240w + Air Conditioner

so i just got my 240w in the mail today, and i just got a 12000 btu stand alone air conditioner the day before that.

i plan to put the ac in the tent. iv done some research on how AC's work, and obviously you have to vent them somewhere. however, thats not the problem. i know the unit will create a negative vacuum, as it draws air out of the tent to cool its compressor. some of the air is not exhausted and that is what is blown back into the tent as chilled air. my questions are: 1) what percentage of the airflow is ehausted, and what percentage stays in the tent? 2) Is the exhuasted air ran through the carbon filter? 3) Is it strong enough to remove smells? 4) If the tent is constantly drawing in new air, does the AC still effectivly cool the interior? 5) Should i use a 260 cfm intake, a 130 cfm intake, or none at all?

Is it a window unit or a freestanding unit? Window units don't exhaust air from in the room they re-circulate it once cool, I don't know about the freestanding units but you could always call the mfg tech support line. (you know how those calls can go)

its a stand alone unit. has an exhaust hose you fit into your window. i had no idea how they worked either, and had to do some homework. i know there are some people here that have used tents and AC units. i hope they have some info.

I am kind of doing the same thing with a 600watt and a little bit bigger a/c. Check out my journal. It is hot outside right now, it may be hard to keep temps down during the summer.

Key is fans and a/c. Don't let the room go over 90. Idealy 85 maxx. Might take some practice. you can do it....

What don't you understand about setting up your AC?

You put the AC inside of the tent. Run the exhaust hose outside of the tent using one of the exhaust ports at the bottom of the tent, and connect the exhaust hose to your window.

Bam, done. Turn that bad boy on, and you're set.

1. not sure why this would be important. by feel it is close to 50/50
2. if you want to. if you have a filter running on a different line (say a cooling line for the light) you can have the carbon filter on tht. you only need one effective filter.
3. if you mean a filter that came with the ac, that will not take out the smell. you need to buy a carbon filter made for this.
4. depends on the amount of air. only way to tell is by trial and error. a 12,000 btu ac is pretty powerful so you'll be able to vent in quite a bit of outside air
5. depends on the size of tent. you want to replace the air every 5 minutes or so.
