Not sure about washington but I'd be very careful about attempting to grow for profit in oregon. Take a look at my posts in this thread:

In a year or 2 I don't think there will be much opportunity for many oregon producers. Too much weed, not enough buyers.
That's the whole point of Oregon's initiative. Drive prices down so that the black market loses any attraction. Even legal average weed isn't going to command much price. Boutique, top shelf stuff should though because that takes a lot of skill. It has to be better than what the average outdoor amateur grower can produce and it will sell. But the price pressure will be there.
i'm wanting to move to either Wa or Or. not really a preference at this point, but i like the area north of seattle, lake stevens area. my plan is to buy a couple acres and build myself. starting out in one of those tiny homes on wheels. anyway, anyone have pros/cons of living in either state and growing cannabis to make concentrates/edibles to sell to dispensaries. ie- very low plant count limits, really hoop-jumpy rules, etc. thanks in advance!
also, i plan to do 90% of my growing indoors. if i grow outside, it'll be a "fuck it let's see what happens" thing.
I'm a newbie at growing weed but my four outdoor in Willamette Valley are 5 feet tall and bushy. I bought seeds developed for our climate and so far, so good. I don't think the outdoor weather will be good for long flowering crops. By early October, rain begins, weather cools and by end of October, rain, rain.
Washington has some restrictions on growing. I think as long as you are medical, you can grow four to six plants in any of the two states. I'm not commercial so can't comment on business aspects anywhere other than to say that Oregon has the lowest prices anywhere in the US. That might be bad or might be good depending on how good a grower you are. Top shelf should always be in demand and command a good price.
Personally, OR or WA are all great places to live. Especially near the coast but anywhere, really. Lots of liberals west of the Cascades with highest populations living there. More right wing leaning people live east of the Cascades with lots of cows and farmers living there too. Cows love them some republican politics.
