Where to find metal/aluminum for a COB DIY and go to sleep girls red light

I was in Lowes today looking for aluminum. They have some flat metal by roofing area and then a section with metal for projects. Nothing was that great and nothing felt like aluminum.

Should I buy online from another source or did I miss it?

I saw a red Feit 250 watt BR Red light for $7.98 but it was like a heat lamp. I was wondering of that was any good for the 5 minute goodnight girls light. Is this good night light used in veg and flower?

I used a 2" profile from heat sink usa but there are lots of thriftier approaches

Feel your pain. All the AL I can find online or HomeDepot is going to run $3/ft. Check out 8020.inc; nice stuff but pricey. The upside they have everything you need. If you started adding all the stuff you need from Lowes/HD you start running into the $3/ft price. If your making just a couple of units, I would go with 8020. I have not decided yet because I need to make 20 units to cover my grow room (ands that's just the flower room).

If you find a cheaper supplier of quality AL, let me. Oh yeah, you need factor in shipping costs if go online, and that ain't cheap!

I bet you can fit the 730's on 1.8" it's .66 per foot at HSUSA.

Are you cool on the cooling of the mono's? Do you know the heat dissipation needed for the amperage you're gonna use?

Apparently this Far Red (730 nm) is not unknown to other growers and at least one grow light company. See one of the reviews where grower mentions running the red light for 15 minutes after lights out.

Lowes and HD both stock 6061 aluminum flatbar, angle, and C-channel. However they are priced through the roof, and dimensions can be spotty. I'd actually recommend using your google fuu and visiting some local metal shops around town. The aluminum from the metal shops is usually 1/4 of the price as what you would get at the hardware store, they'll typically cut it for next to nothing, and only charge you for what you need. ETA: Even better still, some places will let you raid their 'remnant pile' and sell you that stuff for a song if you only need an off piece.

I ended up calling almost 50+ different metal vendors all over the state for a recent project. Very few were rude and only a handful wasn't interested in walk-in/small quantity customers.
