I think you are going to have a hard time outperforming your hps at that price pointThis is part of my issue. do i get several smaller panels or a single do everything larger one.
The price is not a big issue. i would like to know what you guys recommend sans price. this will be a long term investment and i can justify a good light if it will preform.I think you are going to have a hard time outperforming your hps at that price point
Have you seen what I did to a Mars light lol and 500w CXB3590 vs 600w HPS= cobs for the win and you can make you I did. It's not as hard as some people think it is. Here's a pic of my 6500k DD bin veg 2x4 tent only running 60w from the wall and it can be turned up to 180w but it's summer and my AC and lights pop breaker lolThe price is not a big issue. i would like to know what you guys recommend sans price. this will be a long term investment and i can justify a good light if it will preform.
i would say this is about as close as you will get to a 600de in your budget. but 2 x rows of 5 cobs would be even better in that space (2x6)So i need some help as to what LED to purchase with regards to the amount of power it ill require.
The space i will be using to flower will be 2x6. i have 51in from my current hps to the top of the bucket so height is a issue.
Im not against diy however i want to get the maximum amount of power to the plants so i want to spend my investment wisely.
The room temps are perfect. i am using DWC with good results.
Dude you picked a hard strain for cramped quarters NL is notorious for its flowering stretch, count on it ending up 3x the height you flip at.Hey all!
Been reading around on LED lights for awhile and found this thread.
I'm split between 250w HPS and a Mars 300 or another 300 watt LED or if I have to CFLs again. I think I will be able to cool either light setup except my main concern is proximity to canopy.
As I put below my tent isn't very tall and the top 6" are taken up with cooling and the bottom 8" taken up by a pot. This leaves 34" for the light fixture, plants, and the gap between.
I have heard a variety of distances people keep their LEDs from 8" to 3'. Basically this answer will decide my light.
Currently:
Grow tent 2'x2'x4'
Strain: Northern Lights
4x3 gallon aeration pots, soil
Plan a short veg. Basically top once or twice, let them recover and flip.
I have an osculating fan for the canopy / light and I also have a carbon filter with a 96 cfm exhaust fan. This cycles the tent around 6 times per minute which is above the recommendations I have read. Hopefully this should be sufficient cooling, can pickup another fan.
Trying to keep the price $100 or under. Found mars for around 70. HPS for 82. \
Thank you!
with LEDs you need to keep them a foot or more above the canopy to prevent LED burn. with your limited vertical space have you considered these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-T5-TEK-FLUORESCENT-GROW-LIGHT-WITH-6400K-VEG-or-3000K-BLOOM-BULBS-24-Floro-/161591009852?var=&hash=item259f93223c:m:mg_xVWSPEGBFQXQWPpPw6VQ I have used 2G11 CFLs before in small spaces and they work well.more effiecient than CFLs or F24T5HOs and they can be placed 2 or 3 inches above the canopy and still provide good light distribution without burning plants. completed 6 grows with them before moving to a larger closet and switching to 4 ft T5HO fixtures.Hey all!

nextlight, fluence with small diodes will easily handle clearance of a few inches.with LEDs you need to keep them a foot or more above the canopy to prevent LED burn. with your limited vertical space have you considered these http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-T5-TEK-FLUORESCENT-GROW-LIGHT-WITH-6400K-VEG-or-3000K-BLOOM-BULBS-24-Floro-/161591009852?var=&hash=item259f93223c:m:mg_xVWSPEGBFQXQWPpPw6VQ I have used 2G11 CFLs before in small spaces and they work well.more effiecient than CFLs or F24T5HOs and they can be placed 2 or 3 inches above the canopy and still provide good light distribution without burning plants. completed 6 grows with them before moving to a larger closet and switching to 4 ft T5HO fixtures.
I'd definitely do some cobs instead of Mars. Or if it's to late rip the guts out of the Mars and add cobs in its place. I have some 3590's dimmed due to height, not ideal cobs but it works. Like purple said smaller cobs run softer would actually be cheaper than the bigger ones and fit well in your space. Anyone know if timber does anything else besides the 3590's? Would be smart if he offered different options in a broader price range for people not willing to DIYI actually measure the hight today and it's near 6ft so I'm sure I'm going with the two marshydro300 and 3.5x3x6 is plenty of room with some training done to the plants. Wish me luck
so for a 4x4 or 5x5 what do you have?OH YEA, almost forgot. We can beat almost anyone's prices to comparable Lighting source.
