WASHINGTON — Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) signed a revised version of a “religious freedom” law Thursday, hoping to quiet national criticism that the original law would have allowed businesses to discriminate against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals.

“Over the past week this law has become a subject of great misunderstanding and controversy across our state and nation,” said Pence in a statement Thursday evening. “However we got here, we are where we are, and it is important that our state take action to address the concerns that have been raised and move forward.”

Indiana’s original Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which Pence signed last week, would have allowed any individual or corporation to cite religious beliefs as a defense when sued by a private party. But the law was written so broadly that many businesses and LGBT advocates said they worried it would open the door to widespread discrimination.

He fixed it in one week. That's a good thing.

Mike Pence used campaign funds to pay his mortgage — and it cost him an election

A brochure from Mike Pence’s 1988 House race, the first of two election defeats that helped shape Pence’s future political image. (Congressman Philip R. Sharp Papers/Ball State University Libraries)
Mike Pence was a young lawyer on the rise, challenging a longtime Democratic congressman in a Republican-leaning Indiana district.

And then, scandal.

Campaign finance records from the 1990 effort showed that Pence, then 31, had been using political donations to pay the mortgage on his house, his personal credit card bill, groceries, golf tournament fees and car payments for his wife.

The spending had not been illegal at the time. But it stunned voters — and undermined Pence’s strategy to portray the incumbent, Rep. Philip R. Sharp, as tainted by donations from special-interest political action committees.

Lets say you own a bakery, and a white supremecist or Nazi comes in and wants a cake. Should you be allowed to refuse them service?

absolutely. The civil rights laws don't prevent refusing service to bigots. But, probably I'd just say we are booked and can't take their order. Maybe I would say that applying swastikas or KKK's hurt my wrist due to ergonomic issues but I could do a Star of David if they wanted. Depends on my mood at the time.

absolutely. a neo-nazi or a bigot like you is not born that way, they choose to be that way. it doesn't work that way with sexual orientation or skin color though, those you are born with and can do nothing to change.

absolutely horrible analogy but i expected no less from you.

So you just gunna sit back and judge who is white, who is black, who is gay mr buck, like you own the world?

You are a racist and a bigot (and probably a closet neo-nazi), that is not your decision to make.

Unless you are black, you shouldn't be judging on who is black or not.

what the fuck are you talking about, cuck?

race is a protected class, that means any skin color. sexual orientation is protected in many states, that means any sexual orientation.

civil rights are not just in place to protect the types of people that racists like you would normally discriminate against.

wow, are you sure you aren't voting for Trump? You certainly do talk like him.

You said before you would refuse service at your hypothetical bakery to a nazi, what if it was a gay nazi or muslim nazi??
You are basically admitting you want the right to deny service based on your preferences, that is very bigoted. What if you don't like people who play Pokemon GO, do you think it is your right to ban them from your shop? Or Trump supporters?

Unfortunately for you, civil rights belong for all people, not just part of certain groups that you think should be protected.

i call you a cuck because you made it apparent that you are a cuck. go back to your "liberty hangout" and complain that taxation is theft and dream of texas secession that will never happen, cuck.

if you think that it should be illegal to deny service to nazis, go get a law passed. oh, that's right, laws are horrible and we need anarcho-capitalism to save us all.

pipe dream, cuck.
