no nutes and doing fantastic..

So this Jamaican grafruit girl started inside in Promix only for 3 weeks. I fed some light nutes once. Then she was put outside. I transplanted her a month ago into Promix only. With all the rain i have not been able to water her on my own except for once and she got a full dose of the nutes. So that is it. In 7 weeks she has had one light dose and one full dose and it shows absolutely no deficiency at all... so i wonder...what the hell? Where is the nourishment coming from? Look at her... healthiest plant i ever had...

I'm going to go out On a limb and guess..... The soil! LOL. I use OF soil and don't feed any ferts in the first 2 months. This year I did experiment with seaweed juice. Your soil should have all it needs for the first couple months!

I was under the impression that Promix peat substrate is cometely benign... and sterile...

I dunno... guess not...

Looks like it has fertilizers in it from the above quote. I dont liquid fertilize my soil grows (except maybe some seasol occasionally)

do a runoff test on your promix - i did on my bag and found a ppm of 550. my tap is less than 10ppm. my first batch of 4 seeds all withered and died as soon as i moved them from paper towel to promix. since then i start the seeds in peat based seedling mix and dont introduce promix until they have outgrown the solo cup.

yes, thats the one. i knew it was amended, told the hydro guy and he is like nope, just myco. Ha!

do a runoff test on your promix - i did on my bag and found a ppm of 550. my tap is less than 10ppm. my first batch of 4 seeds all withered and died as soon as i moved them from paper towel to promix. since then i start the seeds in peat based seedling mix and dont introduce promix until they have outgrown the solo cup.

The run off ppm would be skewed though because it was fed once and there would be residual salts...

There's another promix that is amended to sustain growth for a while. @dandyrandy said it's called Pro mix all purpose.

Yep, I'm growing in that. It's just peat based dirt. Not pure peat.

I have zero beef. I've used promix HP since day one. I've recycled most of it. I had to grab fresh peat recently to pH down some ashy assed biochar. Besides that Ive been recycling hp(with other amendments) for 2-3 years.
