Terpenes, Terpenoids, Smell & Heat

Alright... So, I've got a good bit of experience under my belt and I've noticed when the temps are a bit higher than other grows, the smell tends to not be as strong as when they are when the temps are cooler. Does anyone have any insight as to if there is a specific temp where the terps evaporate?

Im not sure exactly but i think the humidity is a huge part of it. Possibly even more so than temperature.

I think you can get up 95 in flowering but it needs to be a really dry 95 in the 30-40 RH range.

It would depend on the strains to im sure.

Co2 is another factor when talking about running high temps. I wouldn't be running 95º unless I had co2 in my space.

volatile terps evaporate in warmer temps. That's why hash makers make hash in walk in freezers and 50 degree rooms

Anything you'd gain "gain" by making hash in a freezer would be lost after the hash left that controlled environment.

That's why hash is dried and cured at the same temps. Once cured its good. Some volatile terps will evaporate. That happens with everything. Otherwise everything wouldn't ever give off a scent

Hes not talking about removing them from the flower.

Run the last week of your grow at higher temps with 35% RH and watch them frost over to prevent drying out.

Lots of people have had good results with drying them in the same RH and then jarring and getting a nice loud smell and taste as well.

in the garden you will have more trichome production at 73 degrees ambient temp than you will at 80 degree ambient temps. But you will get a better yield of flowers at higher temps.

same thing still applies that I said in the other post.

Terps and trichomes degrade at higher temps and humidity

FYI 35% humidity is kind of low for an indoor grow

I would even think of running 90*+ with or w/o co2. That's just asking for trouble with those temps
It grows that way utdoors and with indoors you have better control.

As long as you have control of water temp, humidity, and air flow its great with c02 and ok without.

Yea it is i would only go that low in the last week to force the flower to frost over to prevent drying out. Normally im running 40-50% RH

Everyone has their own goals. More color? Go low temp at the end. More resin? Go low humidity.

Unless you have an industrial type grow its very hard to do both especially in the summer.

I think they both produce smell and taste In their own way but its gonna be different.

You can't compare an indoor grow temp/rh to an outdoor temp/rh h. It's like comparing a hyundai to a BMW. Sure their both cars, but totally different.

Ones indoors ones outdoors, lol
Outdoor grows are very different, can handle higher temps ect. I'm not fluent in od talk, only.from my readings over the past 4 yrs.
