What is the bubble wrap stuff wrapped around the sink all about?
Is there a distribution advantage to pairing the cobs close like that?
Insulation.

Yes, each module is designed to work as part of the whole, and pairing the COBs helps improve overall light distribution.

That's amazing, but next time consider rotating your heat sinks 90 degrees. Orientation matters (quite a bit, I'm sorry to say):

Notice how thermal resistance more than doubles if they are in the wrong orientation. Heat sinks work on the same princple as chimneys, natural convection carries away the heat, so the air needs a path to rise.

Seriously though, I love these vertical LED grows.

What makes them even more efficient is cutting the long fins crosswise, so they become rows of tall, short fins. If one does this at an angle, it maximizes the effect and really boosts the heat transfer rate.

the plants are not tall enough yet.the game plan is for each 4 light bar being hung vertical per plant, then the heat sinks are better.plus i need to put the last one together like the other three.i stole one and put it in my veg cabinet so i hung horizontal for better coverage till the weekend assembly.

Thanks! But this light can do way better. Last run had some of issues. Those crappy plants didn't do any of my LEDs any justice.
My buddy gave me the broken branch that I cloned all the plants from & I believe his had bad genetics. I ran the same GG#4 but from a differant mom in the HPs room right before this led run & it was better genetics.
The owner sends me pictures of other people's grows w/ this light sometimes. Here's a few. View attachment 3730083View attachment 3730084View attachment 3730085View attachment 3730086
It's deffinetly a neat system. Allot can be done w/ trellising in it, making for a fun grow if you put some time in. But it's pretty low on maintnece really. I just threw them in n let me do their thing. Gonna do way better next time!
Not even gunna lie, your buds look dank as fuck. Nice job man.

Cool man, couldn't tell from the picture whether you room to rotate them or not. Sounds like you got it covered.

Who wants to see 4-5 of these in the Cloak? Bout to flower them this week. Was thinking maybe 4 in the Cloak, n 5 under the Hydroponics Hut & Amare. Or other way around!image.jpgimage.jpg
That will be 150 watts a plant in the Cloak & 200 watts a plant under the Amare & HH. Basically 175 watts a plant average. Which is about half the power I feel like these size plants require. They are allot smaller then my normal plants going into flower by about 1/2 but will still need 300 good led watts each to get all they have to offer.
So, maybe I'll do the HH on one side, 600watt HPS in the Middle, Amare on the end & run 4 in the Cloak separately.
Or better yet, incorporate the Cloak into the whole thing, mixing all 4 light sources. What do you guys think? If I did this w/o the 600 HPS I'd be at 200 watts a plant.
The SC is cool in the way that I can turn the outside blades on (600-800watt light) & utilize them in conjunction w/ other lights. Might be cool to try.

Ok Zep, seeing how you'd like to see all LED, I'm on it. Building the room now. Hope you like what I've done with it!
I really want to make some fixtures like yours & ttystikk's. I need led side-lighting bad.
I have the best led DIY idea. Maybe I'll buy some pre-fab DIY & execute these builds. People are gonna go bananas when they see them. Wicked cool idea. Soon. Maybe after this harvest.
The next run will incorporate the Cloak but I'm not sure if it will go on this thread or my Amare thread.

WHOA! NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER USE FLORAMITE, EAGLE 20, AVID OR ANY OTHER PETROLEUM BASED PESTICIDE IN BLOOM, EVER!

Got it?! Good!

For spider mites, use Safer Insecticidal Soap, Mighty Wash, rosemary oil.
Are you suggesting to use safer, mighty & rosemary seperately? or to make one solution with the three?
