if its bubbling under vac does it still have butane in it???

I have a pretty thin layer of deathstar shatter in the vac its been in there at ~110 degrees for 24hrs at FULL vaccum -30 in hg.+ anyway it seems if I raise the temp it just starts bubbling again and I have experienced this before where it seems if you keep raising the temp it will just bubble forever?? does bubbling mean its absolutley butane coming out or (being that the boiling point of everything is lower) could it be something else bubbling????? 24hrs at 110 it must be done right???? if its real thin and you have purged it that long would you still flip it and go more on the other side? I usually do but if its thin and bubbles all the way thru 24hrs im thinking it may be donezo or do u flip always no matter what?

bubbling is just the melting point really. it has nothing to.do with all the chemicals. Each chemical in the butane has different purge rates.and temps. It takes a few days of purging to remove all or most of the chemicals. The heat is only supposed to be used intermittently. Not constantly. The vac is what removes the chemicals for the most part. The vac you want to constantly run for 3 days at least.

Terpenes and water. My question would be why not just put the extract in a glass container and microwave it until it stops boiling rapidly and gets nice and syrupy? You just have to make sure it doesn't get too hot and get a burny smell. Short bursts, like 30 seconds at a time, or keeping it on low setting. I always mic my extracts to get rid of moisture and low boiling terpenes. Weird I never hear of anybody else doing that. Microwaves are the quickest way to heat anything. Obviously any butane would be gone long before the moisture and terpenes cooked off.

Can you further explain by what do you mean intermitently? Do you turn your oven off several times throughout the purge keeping vacum?
I thought heat was used to increase the viscosity of a carboxylic acid below nucleation point making it easier for any gases to escape. (or i was explained so)

You know, it's a lot easier to extract with acetone. Then you can winterize it as is by cooling the acetone solution until wax precipitates. It's the solvent used for wax removal by chemists because it's the best one for the purpose.

It will dissolve some chlorophyll but that can be removed with powdered activated carbon. Thing about acetone is that it is the most volatile solvent around. It will completely evaporate at room temp. Another thing about acetone is that it occurs naturally in the human body, unlike butane. Even if there was a small residue of it, not a problem really. Doubt it would even be detectable though after evaporation.

It's also a lot easier to work with, since it's a liquid at room temp. I use it a lot, it's my favorite extraction solvent. The product is never crumbly. In fact, if you extracted cold you wouldn't even have to winterize because the wax wouldn't even be dissolved in the first place. Don't know if it would extract the THCA/THC as well cold though. Obviously it would be good to distill the commercial acetone before use, if you have the equipment. I just use it as is myself. How much crap could be in it really?

It just converts the THCA to THC. It would take a long heating time to actually degrade the THC after that. No, I always put my acetone extract in the mic to cook off the water and thicken it up. I just put it in long enough to get the glass saucer fairly hot, usually about 45 seconds to a minute. Then I just stir the extract around on the saucer to evaporate the moisture and any volatiles. I don't care about the terps. I like a nice thick extract myself, with just a light hash smell.

I may be able to use a water distiller as long as the acetone doesn't contact any plastic. Have to find one first.

Yeah if I want to smoke a bud right away I'll dry it in a mic with 1 minute blasts on parchment followed by holding it in front of a fan to blow the moisture out, which is a balance between air flow and the weed blowing away. You have to put a double layer of paper towel beneath the parchment because moisture goes through it.
