Sativa or Indica seedling?

First time grower, took some Reggie bagseed (which I'm assuming the person I bought the weed from threw random seeds in the bag to make it weigh more as there was 3 grams of seeds in my half ounce), I attempted to grow one that ended up dying at 4 weeks veg that had a wider set of leaves and never had a smell. This one has a skinny second set of leaves and is already stinking so I'm wondering what it is (plant closest to camera).

That's weird I've never had a seedling stink in all the years of growing .....and IMO the plant will have to get some decent foliage on it before I can start guessing at what it is ......sativa or Inda ....

It needs soil and water to soon to tell you need a fully developed leave I've had them look sativa but it was indica

To be honest I inhertied my dad's house and he used to grow in the same closet. Not sure if the smell has stuck around from then but when I smell the plant itself it has a stonger odor so I don't know.

Hmmmm...you may want to try digging a hole and filling it with a much better soil. Starting your seedlings in the soil mix and then transplant into it. That is if you are doing the whole grow outdoors.

How did you kill it
My guess would be lack of experience.

To the OP...spend a bit of time reading the sticky threads in Newbie Central and the Outdoor growing forums. The information you will gather is invaluable. If you want to grow some weed...you can try the plant a seed in some dirt and hope it growz method. OR, you can read and learn...then apply what you have read and learned to your grow and cultivate cannabis.

As for Sativa or Indica...unless you are 100% certain of a plants genetics you really cannot tell. I have 2 plants growing now that are both sativa dominant hybrids but they are growing out like indicas. With so many different breeders, genetics, hybrids, phenos etcetera. It is very difficult and near impossible to guess.

However, I am glad that you only asked for sativa or indica. You would be amazed at the amount of people that post pics of seedlings and ask specifically what strain they are growing...exasperating.

It's been pretty dry here in Ohio and I didn't think about that when I put it in completely dry soil.
Just like mentioned above put some decent soil down first and make sure to get your babies use to the sun if they were started indoors IMO .....but that's how you learn

Most likely ....but everytime I'd kill a plant or mess up when I was starting out I liked to figure out why I did it so I didn't make the same mistake twice .....that was my reason for asking to see if OP had a clue on what went wrong ......but then again I'm different than most people cause I still to this day keep a journal season by season strain by strain on everything I do ......I'm a pretty forgetful my wife tells me. Lol

I agree big time. I've toasted a few of seedlings. A small light or windowsill would have sufficed. Live and learn.

We always try to do too much when learning.

I also journal my growz. I actually do a written journal much more detailed than I do on RIU. My wife told me I was forgetful...now she is my ex and I am pretty thankful I can't remember most of the marriage.

Gave it a like...but even so my first grow and a ton of other growerz were successful on their first attempt. I did about 2 months of study and research before I even ordered my first seed. My 1st grow I pulled 2+ ounces from 2 plants in a small tent under 250W HID.

I have seen MANY first time growerz here have extremely successful growz as well.

So, while trial and error can be a learning experience for future growz. I wanted a successful grow to start, and continue to grow and improve my skills.

Lol yeah I also have a bad case of selective hearing lol ......people don't understand how good it is to have a journal to fall back on ...and how nice it is to fall back on .....I'm the same way very detailed journals ....it's very helpful and I wish I started it when I was younger ....but I refer to it at least a few times each year and I also come on here and learn new things that I jot down .....
