with the moon more absent from the sky right now, i've noticed a few shooting stars these last two nights. either the end of the delta aquarids or the start of the perseids.

perseids are due to hit their peak in a few more days, 8/10-8/13, with the strongest days the 11th and and 12th.

i'll be keeping my eye to the sky and enjoying the company of these shooting stars.

Yeah I have been up about 3 am watching last few days as well.. saw some short shooting stars but a few months ago I did see a larger one left a cloud trail behind it and a nice white burst of light when it hit the atmo.. I did attempt to see it last year too but it was not worth talking about.. they are saying about 90 meteors per hour (granted it's more like 1 every 7-15 mins in low light)

Im going where the sky will be very dark things weekend. Not really drinking should allow me to stay up late enough. Looking forward to a night, possibly two away, some papers, a mason jar amd a gravity chair under stars sounds like a great idea.

I was married August 14th 1977......I probably shouldnt relay this info but the night before I was married there were no batchlor parties no strippers no whores I spent my last night as a batchlor with my 2 younger brothers and we spent several hours that night lying on the ground looking skyward observing the meteor shower. I will be observing my 36th persides shower in the next few days........and on the 14th of august celebrating my 36th wedding anniversary !

It's unfortunate but I won't be able to see very well, my patch of earth has an awful lot of light pollution.

Its been alot of fog at night lately where im at but ill go out tonight and see if I see anything .

Buck, you're my shooting star. But seriously, thanks for the heads up. There's a meteor shower on my birthday every year, but I tend to forget about the others.

up about 3:30 am watching the start of it.. was not disappointed like the last few years.. this time was out from 4-5am good 30 mins of 1-2 every 3-4 mins and then bout 5 am went to about 1 every 10+ mins

nice long streaks this am

Wow you actually have a real post occasionally. Lol

Good to know I actually just found some type of space rock might not be a meteor but she does contain some metal and it's pretty big. I'm kind of exited cause even a small space rock can be sold for thousands. To think I was just checking a small mudslide for gem stones and shit but found a damn meteor or some shit clearly not a local rock.
