Okay so im going to be growing 4-5 ak47's. I currently have 8 (25 watt CFL's) 2700k and 4 25 watt 6500k cfls. Grow room stays at a brisk 70degrees. Grow room demensions are 5 ft long, 4 feet wide, 4 feet tall (storage room).

First, is this enough light? Second should i just get a 250hps/mh conversion from htgsupply and stick it in there and use cfls for side lights?? Will the 250 heat up the room a lot more then the cfls? Will i have enough height that the hps wont burn the plants???

HPS light's are the best... and MH lights are the best for vege, but HPS always 1st place
so ill say buy one 250w hps or more likely 400w hps with 400w you dont need anything else and you need good ventilation there always and good fan/fans

temp is fine if it's stays at "daytime" 75-93f at night 70-90f
you can use those CFL's for a side light's very well but buy a HPS system you see then what i mean ;)

4tall is not much height for a H I D
low to mid 70 is a great temp
80 +is not good
not much into flo lights but the more light you have the better

a 250w hps should be fine in that space with good extraction as you have 4'x5' w&l. mid 70s is ideal, 80+ is ok, worry if it gets past 90.

80 +is not good

well if you think that way these kind plant's see over 80f to over 100f temps in they natural enviroment..
and 80-90f it's good with Co2!!

but best temp is between 75-90f :bigjoint:

no over 90f if you dont got
1. good ventilation and fresh cool air!
2. Very good air moving!
3. good moisture!

80 + is not good for all the reasons you listed
this case was what i was talking about mid 70 is great
there was no metionn of co2 or anything
if it starts to get uncomforable for you than it will be uncomforable for plant
within 10 degree for night time to day time
if i was looking for the prefect temp it would be close to mid 70

bongsmilieWay to think things out your at that point now where you should switch from CFL to a HPS if you want to make use of all that space a smaller HPS/MH would be ideal if your worried about temps go with a used landscape light that is totally inclosed, ballast, lamp ect and the bulb is under glass. the case will get hot but the glass will sheild some of the heat a small one say 250w would be perfect assuming your willing to grow shorter plants say 2-2 1/2' if you run the open reflector your going to get some extra heat and will cause you to re-think ventilation I like to keep my flower room at 76 deg and veg about the same but I'm in a basement so I actually need some heat, so ventilation is not as much of an issue:eyesmoke:hope that helps some keep on growin!!
