Panda White plastic or Silver Mylar for walls?

The guy at the grow store said don't buy mylar because it flaps around with fans. I spray painted drywall with white paint and got it on concrete floor. I think white plastic or silver mylar is better.

A plastic manufacturer did a test with light meter and said white is more reflective. However, most grow tents are silver. The Panda white plastic is usually about 5 to 6 mils in most cases. I know a few people here also do there floor with white plastic. Thanks for any suggestion.

I've worked with the panda film its cheap, durable and very reflective.

from what i recall i think flat white paint or panda film is around 95% reflective and Mylar is 97% reflective. every little bit counts!!

Thanks. After priming the wall white - I considered doing a semi gloss white. I wonder if semi gloss reflects more. I may just use Mylar or Panda white I need to plug some light leaks.

the bigger the grow the less of an issue it is really if you have a big room with 1000w bulb its not guna matter as much as a micro or cab grower who is using smaller lights due to the heat issues then mylar is a must i think.

Use a hard bounce like mylar near the light source. Use the soft bounce/diffusion of white panda near the canopy, this helps spread light into shaded areas

Semi gloss is less reflective. FLAT white paint is best.

yes for some reason its proven flat matte white is the best for reflectivity. Youd think a glossy surface would be as its shiny but it isnt the case aparently

Buy emergency space blankets. You can get 5 of them for around 4 dollars or a pack of 10 for about 8 dollars. They're only 2 mil, but they're very large and just as reflective as any other silver mylar. They're typically 50 by 80 inches each. Then you can use spray adhesive such as Krylon easy-tack and literally wallpaper your room with mylar. You can even do the floor if you want.

All for a total of around 20 bucks.

Damn those are cheap. I did a search and even REI sells them for $3.95. I am surprised REI sells anything for $3.95. Thanks.

I like the panda film because I grow in a stone walled basement and it's hard to paint without it peeling off plus the white/black plastic is totally lightproof sealing out any leaks. Also if you tape down the seams panda film acts as a vapor barrier if you are trying to seal a room for odor control or for CO2.

SnapsProvolone, who left RIU pretty much because of mgmt. support of cancerous trolls like Uncle Puke (Buck) and his flying monkeys, was the goto guy around here for all things growing. But he took a special interest in room design. I remember him suggesting (because I followed it) a quality white exterior latex satin paint. The satin for durability,washability, and reflection close to the flat. Exterior paints are also generally mildew resistant. Its done all those things for me now in its third year of use.
