Help with switching to dwc

thinking about switching from soil to dwc. Just curious do I keep nutes in the water constantly? Or do i feed then drain 1 time per week then only fill with water? I usually use flora nova nutes. Should I just follow the guide like I do in soil? If I have to add water during the middle of the weed should I still change the res once a week? Thanks for the help

Dont over complicate it. Sometimes I'll go 2 weeks with outta change. And when you top off the res, add light nutes to the water you're adding, first. One thing I really reccomend it NutriLife h2o2 29%. 3-4ml/gal. Do you have a water chiller?

I don't have anything. I'm growing in pro mix hp and I'm just tired of the defiencies I keep seeing. So I figured I might try dwc. I'm gonna try a different strain or 2 first but no I don't have a chiller. Is that to keep water colder? So I take it the water in the res should always have some nutes in it. Never just plain water?

With DWC just make sure you are using hydroponic nutes and if you have a single 5gallon then yes once a week minimum but something like an 18 gallon tote once a week is nice but you can stretch it to twice. Good luck :)

What deficiencies do you see in promix? Let me guess... Cal/mag/sulfur/micros? All of these can be easily fixed with proper nutes. Promix is a good base. Hell, mix it with epsoma tomato tone then inoculate with compost tea and you've got a very good organic soil that won't need much more to get thru flower.

Water always needs nutes yes. Unless you're in last week of flower which at that point I do straight water and h2o2 to flush. And if you do a multi site rdwc which so reccomend, you need a water chiller, yes.

DWC is really interesting..but the results from what i understand are not constant. In soil they can be.

Mag and Cal deficiency is either easy to prevent (dolomite lime added to the soil. It is calcium magnesium carbonate, CaMg(CO3)2. It has about 50% calcium carbonate and 40% magnesium carbonate, giving approximately 22% calcium and at least 11% magnesium.) or easy to rectify.
Keep in mind use Dolmite lime sparingly. Just a tablespoon per 5 liters of soil when mixing.

I'm gonna attach pictures of what the leaves are doing. 1 of the leaves kinda looks like maybe light bleaching. But my biggest issue was 2 weeks into flower my bottom leaves started yellowing fast and falling off then it started moving up the plant. The top of the plant looks like a cal-mag def. little rusty brown spots. Most of my issues are always yellowing. I have clones veggin right now that the bottom leaves are starting to showing yellowing. I clones in a 5 gal bucket. It sprays water on the clones. Man I love it. 100% success rate. I've left a couple in there for 2-3 weeks and never seen any defs. That's what made me think bout switching to dwc.

These are the clones, I think I over did my last feed but I'm not sure if it caused this yellowing or not. Before I fed theses bottom leaves were just showing a little yellowing. The picture with the yellow dead leaf I just noticed that this morning. You can see in that same pic the leaves have a hint of yellow to them. That is pretty much what I deal with every grow. Last 2 pics before bucket pic are newer clones in 1 gal pots just showing yellowing. I'm having rooms built and plan on putting out 8-12 plants per month so I'm trying to get everything dialed in

Going into flower and yellowing of bottom leaves is lack of N. Did you continue to run veg nutes for the first week of flower? I run veg nutes first week and then second week 50/50, third week 50/50 and then bloom only.

You could have given it a hit of calmag just before the flip or first week and that would of helped.

You probably also needed to up your dosage
