I learned a great bit of info from @adower about bleach and hydroponics.
To keep the res in a sterile state, .5ml / gallon of water works great. For the first week, use .5ml a gallon, 2x a week. After a week change out the res because it will literally be squeaky clean. Then from then on, use .25ml a gallon 2x a week for maintainance.
This routine got rid of brown algae I had been fighting for a month in one of my reserviors when I was using bennies. My ph was dropping quite a bit and pH is supposed to RISE. I knew there was problem. So I did the fix above. It's now gone and clean as hell. Didn't hurt the plants at all. No slime on the res walls.

That's my favorite and I haven't given her the real test yet. She grows so well and clones like a beast and looks so killer in the ez cloner and even in the root plugs. She's literally the hardiest plant I've seen in a while. I can't wait to post some pics of her. I took the most cuts off her the other day getting ready to build my new room. She's a bad ass

The hydro section just hasn't been the same since Hellrazor stopped being mod and frequenting the hydro forum.

Here's some pics of my system. (Wasn't quite finished in this pic. All cords have been neatly taped to the walls and holes patched.)
Tank room is below the flower room. In this pic it's setup to return to opposing tank. It can be run this way as a drain to waist method or you can test your nutrients and run them back through. I have another return pipe that can be put on for running recirculated. Or the 2 tanks can be daisy chained (if your going to be away on vacation) and the waist can go outdoors or recirculate.
Can't wait till you can post pics to see what you have going on.

how are you liking your ph/ppm meter? Does that have the digital calibration and does it stay calibrated for a while?
It's going to take a little while to get my room up and running because I'm in the process of moving, so right now I just have a bunch of clones in some ez cloners that just started rooting. Then I'm moving them to party cups with rockwool nuggets. Then it'll be drain to waste for the first run at the new pad. But I'll be doing some Dwc and ebb and grow buckets as well on the side
That's a bad ass room! I like how clean and organized it is. Even cooler it's set up with those extra options for dtw or recirculating
