The Bill Maher Show ...

Vi, I only say it because it is so obviously true. You actually think you know everything and let everyone know in the most overbearing condescending way. Sometime, when you have a lucid moment, take a long deep look in the mirror. It's not what you say, but how you say it.
Because I disagree with you most of the time and logically point out where you've erred, that makes me overbearing and condescending, right?

I have my biases for sure, but you are always welcome to counter what I say with your biases as well. What usually happens though, is that you CAN'T counter what I say with anything other than personal attacks. That's an indication that I AM right. Now, prove me wrong with logic and facts, OK?

Maher is the only one I heard defending Michael Jackson and OJ. He did it on Leno one night and was dead serious.

The world would be less interesting (and more religious) without Bill Maher. I'm glad there are at least a few rationalists out there. You know, guys who like science, and repeatable proofs before accepting what someone tells you, that kind of stuff. That's what got us out of caves. If the religious right had had their druthers, we'd still be in those caves, occasionally going outside and seeing meteorites and going, 'Oooooh, God's making pretties!'

Well, half the population is less intelligent than average. Seems like the religious right comprises a goodly portion of that half too.

Well, the facts are, I tape every Bill Maher show and have even been to see several of his shows live. You see, I actually think Maher is funny even though he usually comes from the opposite side of the political discourse than I. But, I still think he's funny. Not the last two shows though. He's come off as a vicious, grasping, desperate, condescending ultra-lefty. Insulting, to say the least. I hope he gets a grip soon.

Im an avid watcher of his show and I'd say hes only supporting Obama because Ron Paul didn't make it!

He did claim hes a libertarian but it seems to me the only reason hes supporting Obama because he opposes what he claims Mccain/Palin stand for, he is constantly bashing their ideals about the war, abortion, the economic status, and of course offshore drilling and what have you. I guess Obama sucked him in.

Everything from Obama mouth seems just peachy ;)

I know little about Bill Mahr, except that he drove a hybrid car when gasoline price was not a major issue. And that he took alot of criticism for refusing to call the 9-11 terrorists cowards. I agree. They were not cowards, they sacrificed themselves in what they believed was a just war.

There are Libertarians on the left. Camile Paglia, for example. Not knowing anything about Marh and not seeing this show, I guess all I can say is that if he says he is a Libertarian I believe it.

On a separate note: a Libertarian who chooses to support a major party candidate in a general election is not a hypocrite. Any more than a Hillary supporter during the primaries now supporting the chosen one in the general election is a hypocrite.

Now THAT was an intelligent post. Thanks Johnny. :)

"There are Libertarians on the left. Camile Paglia, for example."

Paglia, while very long winded, is one of my favorite writers. But, Maher goes much further to the left in his support for O'Bama. There is nothing "libertarian" about O'Bama ... he's a Marxist and no Libertarian would support that. Well, maybe a duped Libertarian would. Maybe that's Maher's problem.

I don't know what makes him a Marxist... But oh boy! I sure hope If I ever open and run a factory during his reign of terror one of his Marxist laws won't take my factory away from me and give it to my workers!

Gosh darn that would sure be a drag

Don't worry, the fascists will convert O'Bama from his erring Marxist ways and then (collectively) they will regulate your factory to death, at which time, you will receive a hugh federal bailout package. Oh, that only applies of course, if you have lined the pockets of Chucky Schumer, Barney Frank and Mario Cuomo with campaign funds. ;-)

Wait...isn't a bailout exactly what the Bush administration is doing for Fannie MAe and Freddie Mac?

NO sir that won't happen! When the Fascist pigs come knocking on my door I'll lock up my factory, spark up a HUGE blunt and oppose until death. VIVA LA RESISTANCE! No pocket lining and no REGULATION!

you all know what my factory will be producing correct?

Oh and if golly gosh darn something does happen and so help me god if something unbalanced happens to the government, the short lived days of anarchy in the US will be like a fun-filled video game! survival of the fittest.

I believe I did hear the term 'bailout' on the news tonight...nine hundred times. Heh.

But this one's unavoidable. If Freddie and Fannie die, there'll be no credit available for anybody to buy a house and the poor and middle class will get screwed. Screwed even more, I guess I should say, because every taxpayer is gonna get screwed by this bailout, to one degree or another.

An expensive lesson: a government-backed system that is pseudo-privatized just means when the profits flow, the investors and managers squeal with delight, and when it bleeds enough red ink to float the Titanic, the taxpayers eat the losses. Not a good idea. I hope we've learned that lesson. Not sure how to *suddenly* do a big change though; it's gonna take time to assess this damage, figure out what needs to be done to prevent this from ever happening again, and come up with a plan to get there from where we are today...and then do it.
