Even though I bought most of mine from dealers, I have bought and traded some from private sellers and been gifted a number of them.

I hear you, impossible to trace most of them because we're gonna lie through our teeth, "um I traded that a month a go sir, to a farmer from the other county."
I still think they'd try and get as many as they could find, atleast that were recently purchased and easy to track to owners.

I'm not really a violent person. I would rather be left alone but I don't think I could stand there and let them take them.
I've spoke of a case that the charges were trumped up. It involved a pistol. About 3-4 month after the initial case the sheriff's department showed up to take the pistol for evidence.
I wasn't going to let them have it. I hadn't done wrong and hadn't been convicted yet.
It escalated pretty quick. My wife calmed me down.
I beat the charges and got my property back.

It was all bullshit. Here in this state anyone can lie and swear a warrant out.
The prosecutor told me I was guilty because the dude filed charges first. I even went printed out previous cases where they had lied and told the same story word for word.
I went and hired a lawyer and all of a sudden I'm innocent. The justice system is not right nor fair. If you don't have money you are screwed.

It's more complex than that now. First of all, the official reporting limit is still $10,000. However, many casinos are now voluntarily filing Suspicious Activity Reports for any transaction over $4,000, and some are even using a $3,000 limit. Most banks still adhere to the mandatory $10,000 limit - in most cases.
However, even banks that abide by the $10K limit don't always follow the $10K rule. Any time a bank sees anything that looks suspicious, they are "encouraged" by the police state to report it - no matter what the actual amount. For example, someone who regularly deposits $9,000 in his account will get reported for making what are called "structured transactions" - transactions that appear as though they are "structured" to circumvent the $10,000 reporting limit.
But to make it more complicated, the limit is really only a technicality, because banks are required to report any transaction that seems suspicious - for example, if you show up at your bank every day with 5 or 6 hundred bucks in cash and deposit it into your account, that's probably going to trigger an SAR. If I have a habit of making deposits with small bills, or exchanging small bills for larger ones - again, SAR.
And if you just go to your bank and withdraw over $5,000 in cash, banks are now required to report that, too.
This is the reason I've been using bitcoin whenever possible for years, with a VPN. Can I still be traced? Sure, to some degree, if they decide they really want to. But it takes a lot more effort and costs them a lot more money to do, so at the very least I am minimizing the chances that my financial activities will attract attention. I think that's really about the best we can do these days.

i set up a pot stil with a thumper but i was smart enough to design a feed port into the head ........lets me add more mash to the run keep the still going i need to stop and empty out the water after about 24 hours

We had a Buy back system when assault riffles were banned here. Turn up and they pay you above the going price for them. Keep them and if your caught in possession of an illegal firearm go directly to jail.
Every year or so we have an amnesty where you can turn unwanted or illegal firearms in as well.
