So no info on the maxi bright ballast?. I done some research and the first maxi was mk1 model that was basically the phillips ballast re branded aka low F square, so rf and running the bulb seemed a none issue.
They don't seem to stock those any more and have likely ''reverse engineered'' the Phillips ballast to the best of ability or deliberately swapped out some components due to stock availability or expense. Mentioning that because the mk2 model is high freq and not square wave. It almost seems like phillips pulled the plug on providing maxi with gear so they panicked and knocked up a quick fix to deal with demand.
I say that because over on a uk forum a person counted 5 others who had a bulb fail ( the glass ball turning black) on them but some of them could have been down to be bulb instillation error/hood malfunctions. I must point out though, that it was five people of what seemed like 50 who reported using the maxi cmh for a long duration with no issue. But still, it leads to uncertainty as ttysk here pointed out in earlier threads that the bulbs can fail if not ran on the absolute correct ballast. It also makes me question how many of those 50 people are actually using the earlier mk1 version and are not aware of the differences.
For me it all comes entirely down to practicality and safety. If the mk2 interferes with wifi/radio.. it's a bad product imo.
Also don't see the point in knowingly risking what may be a small chance of having one explode due to improper freq/wave and just hoping the double jacket tech holds up.
Tbh I am hoping somebody here more knowledgeable can do a little leg work as they understand the frequency the maxi mk2 is running at/implications a lot better than I ever will. Not to be pushy but from a safety perspective I'd personally do it to warn others if I had that know how.
Speak to a local shop about any of this.. they don't have a damn clue. And unfortunately they seem to push the maxi pretty hard. Maybe theirs no issue and I'm paranoid.
