my tent is small, 2.5' x 2.5' - i dont think hanging a T5 is an option for me as would probably get in the way of my COB fixture and it seems the smallest of these T5s are about 22 inches
So would it be feasible to maybe put it vertically in 1 corner and move it around each day or something?
You could always go with the "lizard light" flouros. Those I believe do not need to be so far and could be mounted on most cob fixtures. I was leaning towards a "lizard light" but after seeing and reading about these agro lights got me excited for them.
You always have that cfl option. I am nor sure how well they work though. Its funny because I have been looking on alibaba because i was thinking of building a couple uvb led bars to add to my cob fixtures and came across a cfl posting that said great for eyes.... lmfao. Lets just SEE how well that works out!
cool man - in the other thread i linked there are figures of 150-400uW/cm2 mentioned for UVB to be of noticeable effect - now i dont know how those figures are arrived at but i dont think CFLs will achieve that level unless inches away from plants
thats one thing i was hoping to get from this thread, an adequate level of UVB but i guess more testing needs to be done

Since uvb is never static in sunlight itself, my belief is that you need little to none.
Why do non UVB cob flowers always get the raves?
In fact, so little is known about positive benefits of UV light versus the actual downside, we tend to be dismissive to say the least.
UVB was shown to increase certain terpenoids, not in cannabis, and then correlated to say as much...yeah Right. Most data seems to show a damage factor around every bend. Mechoulam proved that THC alone, doesn't get you high. So what is uV and uvb spectrums doing to the other 99 or so cannibinoids, flavonols and terps, that we have no clue about?
The UV thing is way over played with such little data![]()
What I dont understand is why people think the elevation and latitude a strain evolved at is an argument for increasing UV leads to higher THC.
If anything that would mean genetics play a bigger role than given credit. And it would also likely mean that different strains may have markedly different reactions to UV light.
UV definitely increases tric production AND essential oils, so it will get you higher AND taste better. It does this by producing a response in the plant thinking it is under attack, which triggers the plant to defend itself, producing more cannabinoids, trics , and oils.
A metal halide light produces UV-B light if you remove the glass from your reflector and you don't need to hang them so low you can put them between HPS , that's what I do in my HID grow and in my LED grow I use an LED with a UV-B dongle 18% UV-B light.ah you found it! lol So you might use them after this huh?
