I know people stand differently on this topic, but I still want to ask for opinions.

I've lollipopped twice now. Once prior to 12/12 and once again at the start of 2nd week of 12/12. I haven't really touched the canopy though. Maybe a big fan leaf here and there.

What do you guys think!? Should I do a good defoliation to get light to more nodes?? I don't care for more tops, as you can see I have plenty, but do I need to get light to individual bud sites of the tops instead of light just hitting the top of the tops? Ugh...

(Pics are as of yesterday which is day 11 of flower)

Thanks guys. Its only been about 2 weeks of 12/12 but i think im done stretching. This this sound right? I wouldn't know since its my first time. How many weeks into flower does the stretch continue? I've stopped tucking because I dont notice much of a stretch anymore, just lots of flowers forming now.

stretch is usually done at 4 weeks in, but generally are almost 'done' with the stretch 3 weeks after the flip.

I hate the made up term "defoliate" from the MJ community.. Its called pruning.

I would be very careful pruning in this stage, its dictated by stage of growth and that changes how much pruning dosage you can apply, one of the main goals is to remove disease or damage. I woudn't prune anything unless necessary. Even removing damaged leaves counts towards pruning dosage.

In my opinion, over pruning, hurts your yield way more than under pruning.

Very interesting. Would you say the same applies to lollipopping? All my plants have been lollipopped. I think lollipopping makes sense because I figure the energy needed to keep those leaves alive compared to how much light they receive and benefit the plant is just not worth keeping.

I did do some canopy pruning of fan leaves on my other table, but the one in the first post was nearly untouched as far as fan leaf removal.

That's weird, A&M calls it defoliation too. Lmao!!

I think so, observations in dense forests some trees do the same thing, and have little to no lower branches in favor of dominant canopy, in a dense SOG, I tend to clear lower leaves, fan leaves, and branches just do not have the vigor of the top canopy, same with bonzai mom's I'll clear those and the top canopy result will have larger fans and better stem structure.

Oh, well, since you obviously didn't read but the intro to that article, I'll explain what defoliation is.
Defoliation is the process of removing lower stems and leaving to remobilize carbon and nitrogen reserves, thus creating a better source sink relationship between root and canopy. Thus, leading to better photosynthetic capacity and source sink metabolism, meaning they digest more efeectively and utilize the auxins and cytokinins (growth hormones) more efficiently.

I hate these fucking forums full of know it alls based on opinion. I'm done with this forum and fucks like you who talk out of your fucking neck because you have grown a few plants. Its biology, you twat. You nor any other cannabis grower did anything special, mostly you fuck it up. Jesus Christ, you people are idiots and completely content in that manner. Blows me away!
Ha ha ha ha!! Fucking derelicts!

Doesn't that description more accurately define lollipopping?

And what you describe is pruning, I went to Colorado State University for my education on plants. I was trained by people like Eric Hammond, with a Masters in Horticulture Science.

Please, run the fuck away crying like a bitch.. Please be done and delete your account..
