Hi Guys,

It's been awhile really been consumed with so much and as time has gone by I realized my AREA 51 LEDs may be a little outdated. So I took a peak at Area 51 and they have these 2 Cree CXB3590 4000k DB mounted under a huge (Trump would be proud) heat sink. The whole thing looks like a flying saucer with two large spot lights underneath.

The reason I bring this up is because this looks like setup Supra would come up with, simple yet very effective.

I guess I need to read up on the Cree LEDs behind this unit. Does anyone have first hand experience knowledge of it. Something that is more relative the an add or promotion of the unit. BTW I have had nothing but continued happiness with my current LEDs, just wanted to throw some more light in the space I am working in and was hoping to attach (daisy chain) another two of what I bought a few years back.

Anywise kudos to Supra who encouraged me to look at DIY LED panels, but looking at this design it seems off the chart.

Thoughts anyone?

80% of the cree discussion in the last year here has been in regard to 3590s, so theyre pretty well understood, easily the most popular chip out there

two COB's with holder are $68 a passive heat sink maybe $30 max so for a cost of just under a hundred bucks you can have the setup minus the driver, driver easy $12 each. half of the retail cost. peace

where is everyone buying cobs from? if I wanted to buy 256 of the CXB3590 where would be the best place to buy them?

not to dis it but id take those same two chips on two independent $20 140mm heatsinks any day of the week - and for $100 more a 200W timber kit is a way better value in both output and coverage
Is there any youtube video or instructions on slapping these parts together, last thing I want is a fire hazard from bad design or poor electrical connections etc or faulty lights got to have reliable 12 hour cycle.

I feel very behind in all this new stuff...

Thanks
