I purchased an adapter from Mini Split Adapters last May 16th. He did not have it in stock and is refusing to refund me my money. I have had both my local police as well as the Riverside County Sheriff contact the owner some weeks ago. Please be warned...this is not a reputable business. I am glad to see that Mitsubishi has an adapter that will will work with traditional thermostats like the Nest.

Do you have a ductless now? Daiken does have an optional wifi stat (it's an Ecobee programmed for a ductless), and everyone I've seen has a built in temp sensor and timer to, if nothing else, turn it off and on. As for the statement that they don't work well to dehumidify well, most are inverter tech so when they get closer to set point they actually remove latent heat better by slowing blower as well as output if set up right. You would have a hell of a time wiring in an after market stat that could control a unit properly, but it could be done by just adding a stat, power supply (either a 230/24 or 115/24 transformer), 24 volt relay, and a regular furnace (Ecobee for instance) stat. Turn it to the temps/times and just make sure the ductless is set to it higher and lower set points. This may or may not work if the unit has a current sensor that will lock out unit if it senses the compressor is not on when it should be, not sure if that's the case.
