I'm starting a bunch of autos indoors in a semi heated garage....30" wide x 6' long grow space under a light mover. I'm wanting to veg them with a 300 watt platinum led panel then flower under a 600 watt hps. The static temp in the room is 60 degrees F. It will not get cooler than 60, but it won't get warmer than 60, either. The led panel runs so cool that it will not influence the temps. Question #1...Will they even grow/survive at 60 degrees 24/7 for the veg period?
One solution would be to do the whole grow under the 600 hps. That would provide "lights on" temps in the mid 70's - to low 80's. I'd still have a 6 hour dark period at 60 degrees F. Would that work? Biggest concern is the 60 degree part. I just have never done a grow with lights off temps that low. Thanks for any ideas/input.
Hey guy what's up. So this is your first grow?
It's fucking fun man but you have to know that it isn't easy until you do a lot of research and I mean a lot. You will have problems when growing but its a good thing because the next time something happens you will know it.
First how many plants are you planning on growing? 30 inches wide isn't that wide for growing huge plants.
I'm growing in a closet that is 20 inches wide and I can only grow one plant at a time. Theirs no way I would be able to grow two auto's next to eachother in that tight of a space.
If your getting a 300 watt led from platinum I wouldn't even change to a hps. Those platinum led's are one of the best led's out there.
If you use your led in flowering, the led lights penetrate the canopy way more than an hps, so you will get a lot of light on the bottom of the plants if you use the led.
Your temperature is a big problem. 60 degrees is pretty cold for a plant. The lowest my temp goes at night is 75 degrees.
You have to have that temp at around 75 degress all day and then maybe 70 at night. Theirs no way you will be able to grow if you can't raise the temp.
You can get a big heater, that sounds like your only option.
I highly highly doubt they will survive in that cold of an area. You can use the 600 watt to make the temp go up but you are growing auto's so you won't have to turn off the light so you won't have to worry about the temperature because the light will be on 24/7. Autoflowers like the light on all the time.
Another problem is, what kind of filtration are you going to use? You need some kind of carbon filter because if you have it running constantly than your garage will rise in temp by a lot.
It seems like you need to do a lot of work before you start this grow. You need some expert advice about having filters and stuff like that. Good luck and let me know how things go.
