I run Jacks in coco and never had a burn or deficiency except with heavy feeders like chemdogs. Running under LEDs I ran into everything deficiency. Upped the feed 25% added magnesium sulfate and it seems to have cleared up.

Jacks 5-12-26 and green house grade calcium nitrate. JR Peters sell both of these. But they mark the calcium nitrate way up. I get Yara brand local for about $22 for 50 pounds. Much less than JR Peters charges for their calcium nitrate.

Just make sure it is the correct calcium nitrate. Ask for hydroponic calcium nitrate. Or green house grade.

Depends on what you use as your media,im using promix (peat based) and i use the gen purpose 20.20.20 for veg and bloom booster 10.30.20 for flowering with good success. Its really all you need.cal nit is overrated lol

The real difference between the 5-12-26 and the 20-20-20 is the chelating agent. The 20-20-20 uses EDTA and the 5-12-26 does not. Instead of EDTA it uses sulfur. That is why the calcium nitrate is used. With out the EDTA the calcium would bond to the sulfur and settle out of solution as gypsum.

So, when using cobs,, and I see what I think is a cal mag def,, is it typically both cal and mag that are def?,,, or is really just a mag def?,, i am wondering because I would love to just be able to ad epson salts to the soil before the grow,, would that work?

I used domolite lime on the last grow, but found out later it takes months to break down and be usable in the soil

Like growmau5 said it is more likely that you are either underfeeding or not getting enough CO2 than not getting enough calcium or magnesium. Check those issues first so that you dont throw the nutrient balance off.

Most nutrients have been worked out long ago to work perfectly with marijuana. it is more likely one of the two things above is that issue. But yeh epson salts will work with your soil.
