Purple Strains and Breeders (PURPS)

Yup...I too was taught to drop the temps to 65 - 68 degrees F the last two weeks or so to "ring out" the purps. When in doubt follow mother nature...Just like the fall colors, cool nights (not cold) and warm days should bring out the color, but like a pine tree versus an oak tree, if the strain doesn't have the gene it won't turn.
Im doing a journal on purps. Im starting off wit quest genetics triple purple doja and double purple chem doja. Next run will be dungeon vault purple vapour foul mouth

Usually under 70 degrees F and flushing does the trick. Genetics as well affects it. Otherwise pretty straight forward. Flushing to get rid of nutrients at the end is bullshit along with the bogus ash test but I always flush when I want to get the colors rolling and it def helps.
You telling me you run 900 ppms of nutesgor 8 wks and your shit burn clean? Yippity clickity

In my experience, bringing out the purp's can be tricky/finicky. Once you figure it out...

(I'm talking about "ringing out" every last bit of purple, this goes for any "purple" strain)

9wks of feed, no "Flush", and smooth as butter as soon as it's dry enough to bag (usually 6-8 days).

I wanted to point out that "Flushing" isn't essential to bringing out the purps. I have strains that get so purple they're almost black, but it isn't easy to do that (with these particular strains). One will turn out green (and half as frosty) if isn't done "just right". If the "mistakes" are greater than "1", you've got green fluff (with this girl). Had a Blue Dragon cut a long time ago. Her buds purp'd naturally (green leaves), but it wasn't as dense as I would have liked. Once I had her figured out, dense, frosty, deep purple, and leaves so dark they were "Black". No flush, temps weren't even all that low.

So, there's more to Purp's than just "temp n' flush". Keep in mind, terpene production dictates nose, trich count/quality, flavors, and COLOR.

Here's my "Mint" (unknown "GSC", more likely a Gelato version or cross).

My "Mystery" (this one will easily go green, purp is difficult to bring out)

"M4" (it's moniker for now), Animal Cookies bag seed (thank you sis). This is from my first (and only, so far) run with this. Many more in the next runs though (this stuff is as amazing as the two above).

(NB; no fade in the green of the OG hanging next to M4, no "Flush")

I know you didn't ask me, but here is the darkest shit i have ever grown. Leaves were almost black. All about the nighttime temps. Still running it, but it doesn't even get close to that dark this time of year. still some purp in the buds, but the leaves stay pretty green. Another couple months, and ill get these results again.P1000028.JPG

@Odin* @Vato_504, It is grease monkey by exotic, pheno#1. I found a different one that I just harvested that is gg4 dom. This one was more cookies. I have pics from a couple different runs of this one in the exotic thread, you can see the difference in color during the warmer months. Still gets purple but more in the buds, not the leaves like in winter. That pic was prob high 50's-low60's at night. Kinda smells like a cat pissed on a vanilla air freshener. Some of the best smoke in my garden, flavor stays true from the first hit to the last.
