How big a pot for 2 - 2.5 month veg

A little back ground, I have been growing with pots I bought from HTG supply, in the photo is a 5, 7 and 10 gallon and the little one is what I start my germinated seeds in, I am going to 12/12 at week 9 most of the time. and the strains I have been running are a 8-10 week strains

I use to go straight into the 5's after my germinated seeds were about 2 weeks old.

when I harvested typically 4.5 months later I have a solid root ball, I did that for a few years, but my plants never got really big ( I was happy with my harvest)

However I went up to the 10's and I had a lot of wasted soil, so this grow I am trying the seven's, The reason I am posting this is my plants are huge compared to what they were in previous grows at the same time.

I am running FFOF with amended soil Down to earth and some tea's and Guano drench no liquid ferts,

Any thought on gallon per month of growth or is that to limited of a way to think?:weed::bigjoint:

nice looking plants . i use .05 / 3/ 5/ 7/ and 10/ /and finally 20 gallon pots . the 3/ gallon pots i can pack a lot under alight do very good . now a bigger plant i go 5 or 7 i see no difference . the 10 slightly bigger for but no yield difference from the 7 or 10 . but the 20 are for monster plants 1000 watts per plant set up . so i think if you veg them all the same amount of time and put one in each pot the end results will be the same . 3 gallon compared to the 20 same end result if all had the same veg . depending on how long you veg . talking about a 2 r 3 month veg . now if your doing a 6 month veg then the 3 gallon is way to small . so possible your plants were able to benefit from the soil sucking out more nutrients . its time for a side by side . i water daily and nutrient daily . so i can do smaller pots and have bigger plants . i cant skip a day they will wilt . with the 3 gallon . its all fun messing around . until its time to but the soil !

I have to agree with Bryan.. The longer you veg the bigger the pot you will need.. I usually use 5 gallon pots with good results... went two weeks longer in veg and got root bound.. went to 7 gallon same veg.. perfect...
7 gallon shorter veg... wasted soil.. now I'm experimenting with fabric grow bags..

I veg for the most part 2 months from germination, this grow I decided not to count the first week so lets say 9 weeks veg in a 7 gallon pot.

I tried transplanting a 3 into a 10 that was precarious, I cant imagine transplanting a 7 into a 20. I'm of the thought that I go small for a couple weeks then into the main pot for the life of the plant.

lol , i go from a 1/2 gallon directly into the 20 . there is no reason to do a 20 gallon pot unless the plant is topped at least 3 times with many nodes . lot of soil . the stem is easily 1 inch thick on the bottom of the plant .roots still coming out of the sides of the grow bag .wish i could put of a pic of her on here .

Yea I misread your first post, I thought you were transplanting 6 times lol, I think 7 will do, I think I want to veg 3 months from now on, So my next grow which will be clones I am going with the 10's

A rule of thumb ive come to use...is 3 weeks per gallon.

3 gal gives me 2 months with a week window to transplant.

In theory (though ive never vegged anything this long).... A 10 gal pot should give you a 7 1/2 months of veg?

Dont you need room for the 2 months of flower for most hybrids?

Kind of depends on the set up, different environment, lights ect or fast growing plants might require transplanting sooner then other setups.

Personally i cant stand watering every day in flower so i wont use anything less then a 5 gallon/4-6 week veg or 7 gallon/6-8 week veg under 1kw.
