Does anyone know why my ppms jump in coco, when I flushed them 2 days ago I gave them a 550 ppm nute mix and the runoff came out to 950...

So I continued to flush till it was around 600ppm. And left it till today,
I went in and Fed them with some 550ppm nute mix and measured the runoff and it was back around 850? Does anyone know how this could have jumped 250+ ppm in 2 days. The medium barely looked like it had dried out at all

my guess is you did not rinse the coco enough at the begining.the way i always did it was rinse outside till i was seeing clear water coming out and then i would precharge the coco with 300ppm calmag as my starting point and feed 400 to 500 ppm nutes from day 1 but thats using r/o water.it does look like your foliar feeding helped them some.think i would mix your nutes to 500 with about 150ppm of that being calmag and keep watering untill you see a good amount of runoff for a few more days.the runoff should start to lower over time.its ok to water 2 times a day in coco also ;)

Okay thanks, I did flush the coco as much as I could and I checked runoff and it was actually coming out slightly lower then what whas going in at, my tap water is 125 ppm and the runoff was coming out 105 after a very thorough rinse, I was very shocked that my ppms were coming out lower so I stopped flushing and planted into it. I didn't precharge with cal mag and I thought my canna coco a+b had enough cal mag.??

And if my coco is not drying out at all due to 22-24c temps, can I still water 2x a day ?

Don't want to hijack the thread, but can someone direct me to a beginners guide to learning about ppm going in and runoff ppm and its relation to nutrients. I'm struggling with how to get this right. Thanks.

Letting the Coco dry out some actually helps root growth more than having it constantly drenched.

Here is a quote about runoff nutrient levels being different that what is present in the root zone:

"The most reliable method for measuring the nutrient levels in COCO is using the 1: 1.5 extraction method. EC and pH of the root environment can be determined by using this method. The pHand EC of the drain water generally deviates from the actual root situation, as COCO is able to retain and release elements."

Even if you are not using CANNA Coco, I recommend reading their literature to pick up some tips:

Updates:

been in the new tent for 9 days, and they seem to be loving the new environment.
The medicine man is 1 month old today, and looks sorta heat stressed lol?-.-

Temps are 25c-26.5c wen lights are on and about 19-20c lights off.

Humidity is a little high at 75%

Moved lights closer, to about 12 inches or roughly 30cm above the canopy.

Been feeding with a good amount of runoff once a day just after lights come on, with 5.7 ph 450ppm.

Using tap water (128ppm) with 7ml of each canna coco A and B, and 5ml of rhizo per gallon. So far so good, but they could be a bit.greener , might be the strain though?

Some more pics of the babies they are going great now ! :-) done some remodelling today planning on doing a drip system for the two in coco,( pineapple chunk clone and the medicine man ). And the white widow along with the clone of the 8ball kush are in a soil mix and won't need to be drip Fed. I will just water them by hand wen they need it and probly take clones, and flower the mothers out to get rid of em. Will see.

Here are some pics IMG20161009163730.jpg IMG20161009163801.jpg IMG20161009163808.jpg IMG20161009163814.jpg IMG20161009163819.jpg IMG20161009163824.jpg

Some more pics, took 3 clones, 2x medicine man and 1x pineapple chunk last night.

Setup a drip system to feed these girls and they drain into the tubs below them. Only pineapple chunk and medicine man are being drip Fed atm.

Put in some stakes labelling thegirls
