Nice to see someone actually want to learn about what they are ingesting,how its made,where it comes from and how it works.
A very deep question too. So many people use cannabis but know so little about this amazing plant and its many useful alkaloid compounds. That being said there is also a lot of junk in there too that we dont need. Thats what extracts are for. They are a concentrated form of extracted compounds.with there being so many compounds in this facinating plant, there is no extraction method that will extract just one. Whatever you use there is going to be compounds that extract with the thc (what I assume you want)
This is where fractional distillates come in. You've likly heard that term by now. It is the process of separating the mixture of compounds (hash oil) into fractions. Such as a thc fraction a cbd fraction terpene fractions etc...
There use to be so much out there. but its all overshadowed these days by butane and co2 extracted concentrates. If you google anything to do with cannabis and extract you are likely to get a solid 5 pages of nothing but co2 and butane. Mostly ignorant people trading bad tech and spreading it like a plague. Thats only because theres alot of money and invested interest made by a powerful few that make sure you think these are your best if not your only option.
how smart it is of you to want to learn this for yourself and not just believe the first thing you google or what the dispensaries are pushing. Im sure you have realized this by now but there is 100 different ways to make concentrates many of them centuries old. Its just a matter of what compounds you want and what works for you.
Thc with terp without terp witg cbc or cbd or without just thc just cbd.
Either way, new methods old methods whatever you choose remeber when your using solvents it is some pretty serious science, which is unbeknownst to most of the people making these waxes and shatters. So Make sure your products are tested for residual solvents and other contaminates and that the people making them are reputable and educated. Anyone can blast butane through a glass tube in their back yard.

What useful alkaloid compounds are present? I was aware of the many useful Alkenes (terpenes), but not of alkaloids (N2 bearing).
