Crees brightest

only references red colors but still impressive pushing 6 umol/w

i think ive read that it takes +6 months for new leds to be in production fixtures.....assuming those are even at the distributors. but theyll be out eventually
6 µmol/s/W red LED would have to be about 110% efficient. It's up to 6 µmol/s per LED:wink:

Anyway, new deep reds are already in the data sheet.

@welight will these XQ-Es be available through Cutter? Guess one could make a nice engine with those and treat it as a 'deep red COB'.

i only looked at nominal binning currents, but it looks like the XP-E 425 mw @ 350 ma/2.1V is alot more efficient (57.8%) than the XQ-E (350mw @ 350 ma/2.2V (45.4%)

seems like the XQ-e is a specialty chip for small packages (thats what she said....)

so hopefully the XPE 29 bins hit the market soon so we can get some cutter linear pcbs made up!

Comparing top bin XPE vs lowest bin XQE:fire:

It will depend on available bins and price. XPE is 4.5 times larger than XQE and somewhat more expensive.

edit: XQE HE photo red is also rated 2.1V at binning.

not my fault! that bin order is upside down lol

oh youre right about the voltage- i looked at wrong curve

so top bin xqe = 375 mw @ 2.1X0.35 = 51%
Now we're talking. Let's say XQEs are 1/2 price of XPE (seems about right based on Cutter prices) and you can put 3x more of them on a PCB. Will you still choose XPE?

yes we have them on order already, we will have them available on the ZGE boards COBkits will be selling and also on stars, solderless boards and we will be doing a small COB like board
Cheers

this is why i run my cxa's at higher amps. at the time it cost less to make more umol with more amps vs more chips at less amps. and in total id save about 5 bucks a year in power to run things at max efficiency.. i mean if your power costs a shit ton where you live. than i guess a 2 to 5% difference in efficiency is worth the cost of extra chips.. but when it comes to pennies over time vs upfront cost... upfront cost usually wins...id save my money for the best driver possible. that is where you are really losing things.

Hi Mark,

can you give me a quick update on availabillity of the new HE XP-E's from Cutter?
Osrams new horticulture bins are already available but 3,95$US/3,49€ a pcs, lol!

120s.
455nm is almost 70% efficient
650 is almost 60% efficient.

Prices are high.

Now that's much better, but is it cost efficient? I get the red, but how much would you need to make it worth having? 100W in a 4x4 would be my guess, of 650nm
