You still have neglected to prove we are going to destroy the planet. Yes we are damaging the earth but there is no way in hell you are going to prove to anyone that we are going to destroy it.
You could always just put a dead CFL in a bag and wait until the next time you head to Homedepot.. I for one go there at LEAST once every 2 weeks, and sometimes I will go days in a row.I've busted 2 CFL bulbs in the last month. Both were swept up and tossed in the trash. (without the help of a hazmat team) Home Depot is a 60 mile round trip from where I live. Should I pollute the environment wasting gasoline to recycle a lightbulb?
Shall we kill Peter in order to save Paul?
Thats exactly right. You can just store them until the next time you go to Home Depot. You could always just put a dead CFL in a bag and wait until the next time you head to Homedepot.. I for one go there at LEAST once every 2 weeks, and sometimes I will go days in a row.
Regardless, you dont have to make a special trip specifically to drop off the bulb.

((FYI, Im not huge on recycling the bulbs, just playing Devil's advocate to your post))
If you don't have the means... then so be it. At least you agree with the idea of recycling when its feasible. You say that like I even shop at home depot. I can't say that I've ever bought anything from there. I'm more of a fan of Menards, but don't go there that often.
I think you city folk don't realize that some of us don't have a huge extra room to pile recyclables in. (cardboard, newspapers, cans, lightbulbs, glass jars) We don't have a place to take those things, nor does anyone come pick them up off the curb.
Yes recycling is a good idea, but most people do not have the means to pull it off.
Any broken lightbulbs from here on out, will still go right in the trash. The government doesn't give a flying fuck about the environment, they only care about their personal bank accounts, environment be dammed.
My bad.. I forgot some people live like the Little House on the Prairie. I'm so used to having my technology, people to pick up my garbage, and having 15 extra rooms to pile up recyclables in that I totally forget about the hicks. You say that like I even shop at home depot. Yes I agree with recycling, but not if you have to make a 60 mile round trip to do it, it defeats the purpose. Not to mention puts more money in the oil companies pockets.
LOL!My bad.. I forgot some people live like the Little House on the Prairie. I'm so used to having my technology, people to pick up my garbage, and having 15 extra rooms to pile up recyclables in that I totally forget about the hicks.
My humble apologies.

but guess what? When society breaks down, and it will, it's on it's way there. Us "hicks" as you call us will survive. Have a good time being shot in the streets by gang members.
I always forget that some city people have a real stick up their asses

1. When society breaks down how will hicks survive?but guess what? When society breaks down, and it will, it's on it's way there. Us "hicks" as you call us will survive. Have a good time being shot in the streets by gang members.

1. When society breaks down how will hicks survive?
2. If "gangmembers" begin shooting, I will be just as safe then as I am now. I have my own firepower.
3. You say I have a stick up my ass, yet you are the one who stereotyped with your initial "I think you city folk don't realize that some of us don't have a huge extra room to pile recyclables in."... So if you didnt realize that I was using your own stupidity against you then you must be dumber than the average pig fucker.
4. Anyone who truly believes there is some sort of social safety difference between rural and city folk should be doing something other than using a computer... Please.
