Ok so I'm onto my second grow. This time I'm going to go with an organic mainline based grow with some exotic genetics citrus berry. I've moved to 5G RootTrapper II soft pots (used 3G smart pots last round) and amended my used foxfarm ocean forest soil with buildasoil's craft blend which contains the following:
  1. Thorvin Premium Kelp Meal
  2. Ahimsa Neem/Karanja Cake
  3. Alfalfa Meal
  4. CalPhos
  5. Camelina Meal
  6. Crustacean Meal
  7. Fish Meal
  8. 3x Fish Bone Meal
  9. Soybean Meal
  10. Sul-Po-Mag (Also Known as K-Mag or Langbeinite)
  11. Malted Barley Grains (3 Varieties)
  12. Azomite
  13. Basalt - Local Colorado
  14. Gypsum
  15. Oyster Flour
Basically you just mix 1 to 2 cups of the craft blend with each cubic foot of soil that you want to re-amend. I also added 30lbs of EWC and about 1 cubic foot of large chunk perlite. Here is a picture of everything being mixed together. Aside from adding EWC down the road I've got enough craft blend to last me at least 2 years of re-amending and best of all my soil will be so much healthier. I'm so stoked. In the grand scheme of things I'd like to move to a no-till setup and never have to mess with bottled nutes, ph measuring, etc. again. I grow for my wife and I only so quality over quantity is key for us. I realize that I'm cheating by buying buildasoil's craft blend but over time I'll build up my own recipe as I learn more. I've also got some live comfrey root cuttings on the way. I'm hoping to top-dress with EWC mixed with some comfrey cuttings along the way next grow. I don't think I'll have any comfrey ready this grow though.

I've got 4 seedlings currently going. They are reg seeds and I'll mainline them all for practice even though I'm sure I'll end up with at least 1 male. I'll try to sex them in pre-flower with your help.

I love these RootTrapper pots. They breath like smart pots but have a perforated white soft shell around them that gives them a structural advantage while also reflecting light to keep the root system cooler. They also have 1" of exposed fabric at the bottom for extra drainage. Rather than air prune like traditional fabric pots, they trap roots in the inside facing fabric forcing the root to branch. Lastly, their 5G is truly 5 gallons.

Also attached are the 5G pots cooking a bit in addition to my 4 seedlings, all of which are doing well. This 300W timber kit runs so cool that I'm hitting high 60s in tent at night so I've got an oscillating heater in there which kicks on at 70°. Obviously not a long term solution but I'll have something much more appropriate in place in the coming weeks.

Cheers guys and thanks again for all your help during my last grow!

Ok so just a quick update, the plants seem very happy. I've been keeping the light at around 20" dialed down about 1/4 turn. Not sure what that equates too lumen/PAR/etc wise, basically partly cloudy FTW hah. The little one on the lower left is about 4 days behind the rest, all seeds germinated but one came up pretty sickly looking so I popped another which quickly germinated and is off to a great start.

Light schedule at this point is 20/4. I had them on 24/0 for the first few days but I'm slowly backing them down to 18/6 for the rest of veg. Unlike my last grow these are photos. I plan to mainline them and was advised to keep them short & stout to start. I've got a slight breeze via a single 6" clip-on fan for now in addition to a humidifier and 2 12" saucers of water keeping things right around 45% RH. I'd prefer it a little higher but it's very dry out now.

Forgot to add the damn photo, here they are!

Big ups man I love exotic. Recently added a few boxes of big smooth and black mamba to my bank. I'm running pink 2.0 now and still have a few boxes of that left along with Kimbo kush, grease monkey and cookies and cream. I'm def gonna watch your grow to see how these go.

You got a log going here?

@slow_grow I'm following your thread too. I have some exotic seeds but haven't gotten to a place where I'd like to pop them. Will be cool to see this grow come along.
Also for the fact you are running COBs

Also what seeds you got of theirs

Cherry Cream Pie, Cookies and Cream and Meltdown (freebie).

I really liked the Kimbo Kush when I had it out in Oregon. Wanted to get some, and the Black Mamba looks good. Also really want to find Spirit in the Sky, but looks like it's been discontinued. Only if I could find someone with it who would sell/gift me some seeds.

Lol! Yeah my wife would be pissed to. She already gets jealous that I spend so much time with the plants, giving them attention, studying up on different things for their care, etc.

I'm going thru that Exotic Genetix thread. May inquire about Spirit in the Sky.

Let me know if you run the Black Mamba. Wanna see how that one turns out...

Howdy folks, sorry for the delayed updated. I planned on waiting until I topped them but heres a quick status as of right now. They are all doing great, 3 of them are at their 5th node while the one at the top right (whose about 4 days behind) is at its third. As they hit their 6th, I'll be topping them down to their 3rd and transplanting them into the 5G RootTrappers. Only 1 of the 3 fans you see in this picture is actually on, I've toned down the amount of air quite a bit. Going for a very subtle breeze instead F-5 tornado like I had last grow : o )

On the left there is a block 14 comfrey that I started. I ordered a root for like $5 and it started taking off quickly. After it goes beast mode and gets bushy I'll start pulling and drying leaves and adding it to my soil at each cycle and as part of a EWC based topdressing just before flower. Comfrey leaves are loaded with N, P, K, Cal, Mag, Iron and other goodies. I've got tons of nutes but I like that this thing is basically a growing nute bottle that I can just pluck from as needed. That plus I'm trying to apply as little external product as possible this round.

So far nothing has been applied. These plants are about 16 days from breaking ground and as mentioned all but the one I replaced is at their 5th node already. Good shit.

I'd love to grow some comfrey. Don't know if you are going into winter or summer where you are but when it warms, you should plant a bunch outdoors.

Yeah I certainly will. We are going into winter so for now it will just leech what light it can from inside the tent. Come spring though yeah, I've got a spot picked out for it.

Looking good so far. Exotics seeds are usually heavy eaters in both veg an bloom so keep an eye out. My pink lady's are getting close to being done here soon. Here's a side bud to check out. Can't wait to see what phenos show in the citrus berry!IMG_3314.JPG
